Weekly Video Postcard #53 – Rivington edition

Saturday 7 December 2013

I explain why I am still sporting a Movember tash. Fear not it will come off this weekend.

There is a brief comment on the death of Nelson Mandela but that is covered in more detail in an article here

I look at how the global warming nutters have commented in such an asinine way on the storms.

And then I talk for the first time about my departure from Rivington Street just under two years ago. That was a company I founded 13 years ago which is now going into administration, 19 months after I left it and 28 months after I stopped being its CEO.

The questions about that process and the sale of assets to officers of the company are covered in full by another Shareprophets writer HERE

I am not celebrating Rivington’s demise. I remain its largest shareholder and having put more of my own cash into RSH shares than anyone else by a country mile I was the biggest loser from its demise. Events have saddened me greatly.

As the video shows there could be good reasons for me not sending certain folks a Christmas card this year or any year. But while others may wish to go into battle against those folks I shall not. Allowing resentment to fester and looking back to the past is unhelpful – it is the dark side of the force. Others may have attacked or smeared me to promote their agenda or positioning but I have until now said nothing. I shall say nothing more having just set a few points straight in this video.

I am happy to talk about what I have achieved starting again from nothing with my media interests and a loss making restaurant 16 months ago. I look forward to building on what has been achieved so far working with 24 other writers on shareprophets, and with eight other non-writers. I am happy to talk about how I work with others to create a good product and to look to the future.

That is the bright side of the force. And that is the way I view life.

My financial video this week looks at the Santa rally – myth or reality? You can watch it here.
