Arron Banks – not just a Brexit bad boy but a spiv

Yesterday I flagged up that Arron Banks, the self styled Brexit bad boy – was tweeting about Iofina (IOF) where he had a disclosable stake.  Bankski teased “ I’ve Got plans for Iofina.” The shares ticked higher. Today a TR1.

Brexit Bad Boy Arron Banks is such an Iofina tease

Having previously attempted regime change at Iofina (IOF), the self style Brexit bad boy Arron Banks cannot be considered a passive shareholder. And hence this tweet from him yesterday has seen Iofina shares nudge higher. Arron you are such a tease. But doesn’t flagging up that you are up to something make you a bit of an AIM bad boy?

I discuss the latest developments in Ukraine. Then I move on to Fevertree (FEVR), Tern (TERN), Braveheart (BRH), Iofina (IOF)  and the fraud Chill Brands (CHLL) and the bucket shop based maths based on liquidity, or rather the lack of it.

Iofina – Bankski is back in, spiv trading idea – follow him!

Iofina – the dangers of stinking related party deals

I comment not on the Iofina (IOF) share price which has, pro tem, arrested a year-long decline, bouncing 21% today to 14.5p but on note 16 of its accounts out two days ago showing the shocking corporate governance at this company, something shareholder Brexit “bad boy” Arron Banks used to care about.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: I come clean on the Panettone "gift" time for Tory Toff Lord Willetts to come clean too.

Obviously the big news today is on lavender. But I move swifty on to discuss the failings of the Standard List as exposed by Supply@ME Capital (SYME) in today’s shocker. Then I look at Xtract (XTR) where I confuse Panettone with Panna Cotta but flag up what is going on. Then it is Iofina (IOF), Online Blockchain (OBC) and finally Verditek (VDTK) where Tory Toff Lord Willetts needs to follow my lead and come clean ASAP.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: Shopping online at Tesco I report back on loo rolls, baked beans, soups and delivery snags

This is all to do with my own panic shopping but what it told me about how others are behaving. If folks think that most consumers continue to act as if nothing is wrong, think again. Then I look at Future (FUTR) which i don’t believe as it issues a trading statement, round two of beer and popcorn at Iofina (IOF) as the great Brexit bad boy Arron Banks makes his move, French Connection (FCCN) and ValiRx (VAL) botb of which look pretty fecked.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: reflecting on who Coronavirus will kill should I buy Dignity shares?

In today’s podcast I start with an apology to Mitch Tarr for perhaps marginally misquoting him. But that turns into a demand that for all sorts of reasons BigDish (DISH) fires its chairman Jonathan Morley-Kirk, who should be in prison. Then I look at Coronavirus and Dignity (DTY) following a discussion with my GP sister. Then it is onto Sirius Minerals (SXX) and finally to why Brexit “bad boy” Arron Banks is a hero both for dealing with the ghastly Carole Cadwalladr and for his actions at Iofina (IOF) which I support for reasons I explain in great detail.

Brexit “Bad Boy” Arron Banks slammed as a law breaker by Iofina as he tries to oust chairman - we back rebels 100%

Get your beer and popcorn ready this is going to be fun. Iofina (IOF) has today issued an RNS via its morally bankrupt PR mothers at Yellow Jersey commenting on social media and press reports that the self-confessed bad boy of Brexit, Arron Banks, is calling a GM to oust useless chairman Lance Baller. Iofina says it has received no request and as such “ the Board believes that posting this type of information on social media, instead of by proper and legally permitted channels, to be wholly inappropriate and in potential violation of applicable law and regulation. Furthermore, the Board believes this action to be detrimental to shareholders of the Company as a whole.” Pompous knobheads.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: Sterling roofing it #DespiteBrexit - why has Project Fear been exposed thus?

Do not worry it is not all macro babble in today's podcast but I reflect on why Sterling is roofing it and why this also makes the Paul Scott thesis on retailers and consumer facing stocks wrong - more of that on Saturday no doubt! I look at Amur Minerals (AMC) with the 1 question its dumb shareholders need to ask. I intrude on the private grief at Somerville towers regarding Scancell (SCLP) and suggest that there is more to come for poor Nigel. And I look at perennial dog Iofina and what it is NOT saying. If you like bearcasts then remember that at UK Investor on April 21 - THIS SATURDAY - one of many highlights will be a live bearcast with myself and Paul Scott. Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: More ouzo, vindicated on RapidCloud's descent to zero as well

In the main bearcast today I touch on the Cloudtag (CTAG) fraud but that is really covered in its own bearcast HERE. I do look at RapidCloud which was suspended today and will lose its AIM listing in a month. Who warned you that this would face a "terminal conclusion" 149 days ago? Was it PR wankers Walbrook or Nomad WH Ireland or savants on the LSE Asylum? Er no, it was me HERE.  I then look at Challenger (CHAL) a zero in waiting, Iofina (IOF) and IGAS (IGAS) both of which should also be zeros. I commend today's excellent piece from Nigel, the Deputy Sheriff of AIM,  on the Servision (SEV) scandal HERE. I take Nomad Allenby to task for failing to comment on this and for allowing Servision to mislead mug punters. AGAIN. Finally I take apart overvalued ramp Wey Education (WEY). Its shares are up 33% today. That is a ramp not a reflection of value.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: the Delivery Man says he's a keen reader - he's also a fan of Big Dave Lenigas

And so the guy delivering a package for next door said "Hello Tom". He is a keen reader and owns shares in UK Oil & Gas (UKOG), ScotGold (SGZ) and Xtract Resources (XTR). He must be a big fan of Big Dave Lenigas as well. It was a good chat. In this podcast I look at how quickly sentiment can change ref Nostra Terra (NTOG) and Optibiotix (OPTI). Iofina - when is a (lack of) profits warning not a profits warning?

When it is described as a "corporate update". That is how Iofina's (IOF) prize piece of excrement PR person Dominic Barretto headlined yesterday's profits warning. It looked so tame why bother reading? But it was a warning and Barretto being a total wanker deliberately did not add in any hard numbers. You see he views investors with contempt. His job is to polish a turd not to inform. And boy is Iofina a turd.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: Bring out the piano wire for the AIM awards tonight & are you boycotting marmite?

I start with the bust up over marmite and other matters between Tesco (TSCO) and Unilever (ULVR). Naturally the democracy denying liberal establishment bastards at the BBC blame Brexit for sterling's slide and this - I explained here why this was wrong. I explain what this battle is really about. I then look at DiamondCorp (DCP), Iofina (IOF), Goldstone Resources (GRL) and Magnolia Petroleum (MAGP). I end with a look at the AIM awards. I get really angry at this point and when the anarcho capitalist revolution arrives the 2,500 crony capitalists spending £750,000 of YOUR cash tonight merit a meeting with piano wire.

Iofina Trading Statement: The mystery of the barking dog

Iofina (IOF) has today served up a Q3 trading statement. What it says is fine enough. But what matters is what it does not say. Happy birthday Lucian, it looks as if my son is hanging on to avoid joint parties in the future. Theresa May has a new idea on tackling fraud. Suffice to say what she proposes will damage industry and Britain PLC. I have another suggestion - enforce existing rules. Mrs May fails to understand the psyche of most fraudsters but also how useless the fraud busting agencies of the state are. I then move onto bad news for my good friend Jim Mellon at his latest AIM Disaster, Billing Services (BILL), then I cover XCite Energy (XEL) and read throughs at IGAS and Iofina (IOF). 88 Energy (88E), China fraud Zibao (ZBO) and the smelly business at Feedback (FDBK)

I give you one of the questions whuch had me stumped since in part it depends on whether you live in the hard working South or the Northern welfare safaris. Then I answer a question on forward selling and another listener question on whether Sirius Minerals (SXX) is cheap. Then it is onto Harvest Minerals, (HMI), Iofina (IOF), Alba (ALBA) and the Jim Mellon joke that is SalvaRx (SALV) which I have covered in full HERE. I then discuss in light of today's three legal scoops with documents falling into my paws ( Strat Aero - HERE, Iofina - HERE and Golden Saint Resources - HERE) the 3Xs who help investigative journalists do their job and my encounters with all three on Quindell and other cases. At a company level I look at: Card factory (CARD), Iofina (IOF), Noricum Gold (NMG), Avanti Communications (AVN) and xCite Energy (XEL) and i also discuss why Cloudtag (CTAG) shareholders are like a swarm of wasps and what that means.

BREAKING: Is Iofina ignoring AIM Rules - not admitting to US legal setback

AIM Rule 11 states that listed companies must notify investors via an RNS of material developments. But it seems that cash munching, drowning in debt, piece of Turkish Iofina (IOF) does not think the rules apply to it. No doubt it is aware that the Oxymorons at AIM Regulation won't enforce anything so it has opted NOT to tell you about a US legal setback on Monday.

Then I am going to annoy Paul Scott by bashing Roger Lawson. Those who followed Lawson's advice as he endorsed blinkx (BLNX) without declaring his holding are 90% down. Yet he is yet to apologise to them or to those he attacked as we pointed out why his analysis was all cock. So let's look at the dire trading statement today. I look at Monitise (MONI), rats leaving AIM, viz Edge Resources (EDG) & UMC Energy (UEP). I ask where is the fraud at African Potash (AFPO)? Iofina - why wont it tell us the critical metric of cash? Reason: it has sweet FA

A year end trading statement is meant to allow investors to make a rational decision on whether to buy hold or sell the shares. A statement such as that served up by Iofina (IOF) today fails to do that. If a company fails to announce critical metrics it is - 99.99% of the time - because those metrics are dire. And that is the truth behind today's turd polishing from this AIM listed POS.

Worse is to come as I shall reveal later today.  But this follows the same pattern as we have seen with Range Resources, Sefton, Vialogy, Globo, Quindell, Iofina, blinkx, Gulf Keystone, Outsourcery etc. etc. Folks like myself and Paul Scott, the great share blogger, point out obvious reasons to sell and all we get is abuse. Paul posted this on ShareProphets yesterday re Naibu

ShareProphets (Prophets of Doom), REM, Bulletin Board Morons – a FINAL word

On twitter, on various bulletin boards and on the comments section here on ShareProphets  and elsewhere we have come under sustained attack for 24 hours – let me set the record straight. And then I can get back to dealing with the snakes, rats and bats that infest my home for the summer in Greece.

  1. Some commentators have stated that they have no sympathy with the threats made against myself, ChrisOil and James Parter by Bulletin Board Morons BUT… we have brought it on ourselves by being so bearish, etc. Bollocks. There can be no BUYS on this one. Making threats is illegal. And threatening writers because you disagree with what they say is just plain wrong. Anyone who cannot appreciate that there can be no BUT’s in this matter has a screw loose. I suggest they start their therapy by reading 1984 ref ThoughtCrime and follow that up with On Liberty by John Stuart Mill.

Twitter Moron of the Week –Mike Bowen a bull of Quindell, Coms & blinkx

You could not make it up. Some folks cannot but help pick overpriced glamour stocks which crash. Meet Mike Bowen who tweets as @lookatbowen and who first spring to my attention as he tweeted @tomwinnifrith the only person certifiable is you Tom  Oooh er missus. I guess he owns Quindell (QPP) then.

For the avoidance of doubt I am prepared to accept that there is a case to be made that I am certifiable. Warning folks about overvalued stocks does not make you popular. Buying shares in Quindell just to go to the AGM and ask hard questions might be construed as foolhardy. But whatever. I prefer the description “eccentric.” But as it happens on a portfolio of all the stocks the Bulletin Board Morons love (blinkx, Globo, Iofina, Cupid, Gulf Keystone, Coms, Range Resources, Sefton and of course Quindell) I was RIGHT to be bearish.

Now meet “sane” Mike Bowen.

The other two videos cover companies including Gulf Keystone (GKP), Mothercare (MTC) and Naibu (NBU) but can be accessed only on the Nifty Fifty.

In defence of Negative articles ref QPP, Iofina, Globo, blinkx, Sefton, Range, etc.

Writing negative pieces about companies does not win you friends. In the past year I have enjoyed as a result: lawyers letters from companies, being sued for libel, shit posted to me in the post, death threats, stalking (yesterday), numerous complaints about me to the FCA, defamatory comments about me and my restaurant on the internet and now attempts to get ADVFN to stop me writing. Bollocks! What I do is right and in the interests of shareholders. I am not stopping. Nor will this website.

What you must first understand is the vast amounts of money that quoted companies spend on persuading investors to buy their shares. Commissioned research from Edison, Hardman, etc. is not cheap. PR firms charge up to £10,000 a month to plant positive spin in the press. Roadshows and presentations at Proactive and Oilbarrel or the recording of soft promo videos are not cheap. My guess is that between them QPP, Iofina, Globo and blinkx will have spent c£1.5 million of shareholders funds last year on trying to persuade folks to buy the shares.

Most commentators and brokers write overwhelmingly buy notes.

Iofina Dog’s Dinner of a Trading Statement and more to come

Iofina (IOF) today served up a dog’s dinner of a trading statement and now promises regular update on its operational woes, oops I meant progress. Goody Goody. The shares are now 38p and my long term target price remains sod all.

And so to today’s news. Hmm where to start?

Numis – slashes Iofina price target and downgrades to “corporate” hold

The analysis of Iofina (IOF) by Numis Securities (a retained adviser to the AIM Cesspit posterboy) has been woeful. It became marginally less woeful on Friday but let me now explain a corporate hold.

For months Numis has been insisting that Iofina shares were worth 156p despite clear evidence that the company was missing target and running out of cash. Belatedly on Friday with the firm having issued a $5 million bond convertible at just 40p just two days after saying that it did not need any more cash, Numis slashed its target price from 156p to 47p.

It also downgraded its stance from “buy” to “hold”. This is what is known as a corporate hold. I have no idea how the 47p target is arrived at. Presumably it is a bit like the 156p target. Given that the company now has $20 million of debt, cash net of trade payables/receivables of (perhaps) $5.5 million and burned $2 million a month in Q1, it is hard to say.

Iofina has said that it will cut costs which it needed to do. But the point

Iofina: "I don't believe it"

Iofina (IOF) makes me think of the actor Richard Wilson, aka Victor Meldrew. Firstly it permanently has one foot in the grave. And secondly I just don't believe it! Its RNS statements are the biggest joke on the AIM Cesspit, a point I shall be making to AIM regulation and the FCA again this afternoon. As a reminder

Iofina Results – what utter bollocks: this company is almost bust

Iofina (IOF) has today served up a gushing set of results. Everything is up, all looks fabbo, there is no need to raise fresh capital to carry out its “core” business plan, and the directors are confident and say the company is a going concern. What complete and utter bollocks.

I note that it says the full accounts (which will show the nasties) are available on its website. They are, at 7.15 AM, not available on its website.

I note that at December 31 cash stood at $8.268 million. As at March 31st it stood at $2.3 million. In other words Iofina sent c$2 million to money heaven in each of the first three months of 2014.  Trade payables at December 31st were c $1.1 million greater than trade payables.

This maybe beyond the scope of analysts at Numis Securities but my cat can do the maths on that one. Surely even the average bulletin board moron can also do his or her sums.

The statement about having the funds

Iofina – A question for AIM Regulation & the FCA: when did the directors know? Target Price now 10p

Back down from the Greek Mountain, my mind is deeply troubled by yesterday's events at Iofina (IOF) and I have fired off a couple of emails to my new best friends at the FCA and also to AIM regulation asking if they can assist. Meanwhile I have chatted to Lucian Miers and as a result set a (generous) target price of 10p – the shares are now 24.75p.

I first remind you of a timeline of events. On 26th and 27th of March I posted two articles HERE & HERE which, inter alia, suggested that Iofina was almost out of cash but also noted that Iodine prices had tanked and that trading must also be dire. I predicted that a profits warning was inevitable.

Yesterday, 22nd April, Iofina duly served up that warning and also stated that on 30th March cash was $2.3 million. It did not disclose what trade payables were not did it say what net cash was as at 22 April. In these days of electronic banking surely it knows what cash it has on a daily basis?

Iofina Shares Collapse – victory over the Bulletin Board Morons & cretinous analysts at Numis Securities

Oh dear, oh dear… I have warned you numerous times to sell shares in AIM Cesspit listed Iofina (IOF) because it was burning cash and set to run out this spring and today the company has finally fessed up and admitted that I was right all along. The shares have collapsed by 56% to just 24.5p. So Numis (who reckoned a month ago that the shares were worth 156p) how much do you pay the analyst who served up that crap? Give my cat his job instead!

I have been warning about Iofina for more than a year and each time the Bulletin Board Morons responded with:

a) general abuse directed at me
b) claims that I did not understand the Iodine industry
c) references to Numis buy notes with 156p targets.

It is clear that those buy notes were not fit for use as loo paper.  It might now dawn on the Bulletin Board moron

Breaking News: Tom Winnifrith’s three legged cat Oakley (pictured) headhunted by Numis Securities

Heck it is on twitter so it must be true. Apparently following an exchange of comments about Tom’s piece earlier today on POS stock Iofina (HERE) the headhunters have been instructed to approach Oakley (pictured below).

Oakley is the one on the right. Tara still thinks that if you slash forecasts you keep the target price unchanged so she should not be an analyst should she?

Does a new career as an analyst covering junk AIM stocks such as Iofina beckon for Oakley? Well at least he understands that if forecasts are changed then by definition the valuation of a stock must change. You don’t need to be FCA regulated to get that do you? Even if tara and certain others have not worked it out yet.

The tweet which unearthed this surprising news is below:

Iofina – Oh Dear, Oh Dear, Oh Dear: TW vs. the BB Morons, TW wins, The POS warns

Yesterday I suggested that Iofina (IOF) of which I have been a long term bear was deep in the merde, running out of cash, needing a placing and set to issue a profits warning. Well I guess that is another victory for home team Winnifrith vs. the Bulletin Board Morons as the company has not wasted time with its first warning. Gotcha!

The statement today says that following the construction of the sixth iodine plant Iofina is going for a bit of a changeroonie of plans. The statement crafted by its dickhead of a PR man fesses up:

Iofina – what’s wrong? When is the rescue bailout going to be announced?

While most shares are making steady progress, the share price of AIM Cesspit listed Iofina (IOF) continues to drift and at 59p it is at its lowest since December 2012. Is something wrong? Almost certainly the answer is yes but since its dickhead of a PR man refuses to speak to me I cannot put the question to it directly, I just assume that bad news is on the way.

At a 59p share price the company is capitalised at £75 million. It has debts of $15 million (more on that later). We still await calendar 2013 results but a grisly trading statement/profits warning in December indicates that cash as at the year end was not a million miles away from sod all.  And Iofina continues to burn cash.

Now that leads me to one conclusion

Iofina Profits Warning – Red Flags all over the shop – Shocker

I have never liked Iofina (IOF) and so today’s shocking profits warning brings some sort of grim satisfaction having published a very bearish piece at 150p back in June

You can read that piece here.

Red flags abound in today's statement.

1.Today we hear that Iodine prices fell in 2013. So why the bloody hell were we not told about this more explicitly before. The company announces operational updates on bring a new facility onstream every other week but surely this is critical information? Whoever does this company’s PR should be publically hung drawn and quartered. As it happens the company’s PR man is Dominic Barretto who is a prize shit so his public execution would make the City a better place all round.  But my point is that a company that communicates information in a quite dreadful way, I really do not believe it anymore.

The strange case of Iofina

I met Iofina (IOF) years ago and resisted the urge to tip the AIM listed shares. That was clearly a ghastly mistake as it has – until recently prospered, in share price terms, from building facilities to “mine” iodine.  On Monday its shares slumped by 40% at one point. The company said that there was no reason for that and they then rallied strongly. I suspect that this is a highly margined stock and that a small initial fall triggered stop losses with spreadbetters which then became a vicious circle. But at 150p with a £191 million fully diluted market cap would I be happy to own this AIM listed stock?
