Like all humans I have an irrattional interest in tound numbers. 100, 1000 or in this case 14 million and 16 million.
14 million page impressions since launch was the landmark that www.ShareProphets.com reached on Christmas Day 2016 - its launch was in the spring of 2013. www.TomWinnifrith.com is my other site - it's this site!. It is much smaller, averaging just over 1,200 page impressions a day right now, but is a bit older, dating back to June 2012. Together the two sites are set to hit a collective 16 million page impressions on, round about, January 3rd. That is quite a lot of reads.
According to Alexa.com ShareProphets is ranked by reads 14,821 in the UK across all websites and 229,208 globally. TomWinnifrith.com is 92,622 and 847,041. I am not sure those numbers mean anything. As long as we are financial viable, not losing money, and I enjoy what I do, we battle on. We have not spent a cent on advertising so I guess that makes passing these targets all the more gratifying.
You can, of course, spend a fortuine on SEO and "buy" traffic. But racking up huge losses for the sake of vanity is not an option for me financially nor is it something that seems to have any point. Why bother? If folks want to read my articles they will find me in the end. If they don't why use SEO trickery to spoof them into reading?
So to those who are here "organically", thank you for continuing to read my articles and feeding my round number obsession.
