That time of year is dawning again. This will be, from memory, my fifth olive harvest up at the Greek Hovel. Of course it is no longer a hovel but a luxury eco palace with heating! And so, although temperatures in the Mani dip to near zero during the night, if you want to spend a week, rent free in a warm house in the middle of nowhere, now is your chance.
You may remember that last year I had two volunteers. We toiled for five days and then brought in Albanians for two. They were pricey those Albanians and the harvest was a rotten one anyway. Overall my net profit was, I think, ten Euro.
So this year I want to do it without Albanians. Sorry fellas you have priced yourself out of the market. If needs be I shall do it alone, focussing in on the best of my 250 trees. But if you are not afraid of hard work, dear readers, and enjoy a bit of ouzo in the evening, and are free around the first week in December drop me a line at [email protected]
