I am afraid that in my village, the only store is a Co-Op and it is an institution worth supporting to ensure we have that facility. But many folks have a choice and I would urge them to boycott the co-op for wishing to impose its views on a free press, in this case the Spectator.
The Spectator has, as have I, regularly questioned many of the excesses of transgender activists. My daughter plays competitive sport but I resent the idea that all her hard work could be wasted and indeed she could risk injury playing against women who used to be men. Nor do I want her sharing a changing room or, should it come to it, a prison cell with such a person.
It appears that transgender activists think that raising such matters is offensive and should not be allowed so have asked why the Co-Op advertises in the Speccie. The Co-Op has now stated that its media buyer placed one advert by mistake and it will never advertise again. To its credit, the Spectator has a long-running policy of imposing life bans on advertisers who think they have a right to dictate editorial content.
This is about free speech, debate and a free press. The Co-Op is in the wrong here and, as such, any company that fails to support a free press is, I suggest, not one that deserves your custom.
