You need to wear a mask said the man in the freedom store I’ve used for six months – so I lied

There is a store in these parts which has allowed me to shop without a mask since this madness begun. I have thus become a very loyal customer. I am not sure why it takes such a libertarian approach, some of its staff mask up while others do not, but its common sense behaviour earns my respect. However, today, as I wandered in, a man said loudly “Where is your mask? You need to wear one.”

I do not know this man so said, completely untruthfully, “medical exemption mate” and carried on.  As I wandered around buying a few things for a bonfire I shall be lighting early tonight for the benefit of Joshua and one of his friends* he came over and explained that the “Covid Police” were active in the local two villages and he had to play by the rules. I responded “Traumatic childhood experience, I just don’t want to talk about it” and turned away.  Game over. He will not be quizzing me again and I defy any cop to do so either.

The Government is lying to us all about the rate of increase, about how deadly Covid is, about how busy the NHS is and indeed about whether its PCR tests work at all.  So I see nothing wrong in a bit of lying back; it is my duty to defy these insane laws in any way I can. Masks do not stop the spread of anything and will not save anyone from catching anything. This is a pointless charade.

*My bonfire is on a part of my land which contains a public right of way so if one of Joshua’s mates and his mum happen to be walking along that right of way when I light my fire then there is nothing the Fuzz can do to stop them should any curtain twitchers in the last village in Wales wish to interfere.
