Saturday 29th May I walk 34.2 miles – will you please sponsor me and the other Rogue Bloggers for Woodlarks?

I seem to have pulled some muscles in my back and shoulder and am in a bit of pain which will make tomorrow’s 34.2 mile walk from Winchester Cathedral to Woodlarks even more “fun”. But walk I shall as the quite amazing charity said that it needed to cover its costs in this year when its revenues have been eliminated by lockdown by us raising £48,000. So I will walk and I will finish. I won’t be alone but ask that you do your part and sponsor me as we seek to raise that £48,000. To those who have already done so, I say thank you, to the rest of you…

There will be six of us at the start. Injury has meant that one original blogger – Brokerman Dan – and one who would have been on year two – young James Price – cannot join us. But James’ dad Jonathan, Lucian Miers, an original rogue blogger, Andrew Bell – walk three but yet to finish – Steve Moore (2nd time) and newbie Robert Lewis will all set off at 6 AM. We will be joined at various stages by others so, I hope, that more than a dozen of us will arrive at Woodlarks by 9 PM.

This will be my fourth walk for Woodlarks and I hope that we will, with gift aid, beat our record fundraise of two years ago, that is to say £55,000. I shall keep begging to try to get there as Woodlarks is just such an amazing place. If there is a heaven, and I believe that there is, the folks who run it are sure to gain entry. The work they do in offering a unique holiday experience to severely handicapped folks, mostly young folks, is just awesome. It is unfashionable so it needs money.

Darren will be posting photos and a running total on how much has been raised and how you can donate more throughout the day on this website.

Staring out at a rain-filled sky here in Wales today but hoping for a cool but dry day on Saturday, I ask that you metaphorically walk with the Rogue Bloggers tomorrow by making a donation HERE.

If you enjoyed reading this article from Tom Winnifrith, why not help us cover our running costs with a donation?
