We now have water and that should speed up the cleaning of the pool. But pro tem, Joshua and I can watch but not use. At least the view is spectacular. But with the pool out of action for another few days, as more chemicals are added, I am seriously considering a road trip.
When my father died in October, I was unable to contact his oldest friend here in Greece, Mike the Vlach. You may remember that a few years ago, I walked, in the snow, from Metsovo to Anelion to see Mike. I would not walk today as, it being summer, the bears are out of hibernation and Joshua and I have agreed we’d rather not meet one.
It is a six hour drive up into the Pindus mountains and there are some very pretty places on the way. So I am pondering it. Meanwhile, Joshua and I can only look at the pool in frustration. Mike may, himself, now be sipping ouzo with dad in a better place. Who knows? But having spent so many summers in Anelion as a child, maybe it is time to introduce Joshua to the Vlachs?
