Daughter Olaf arrives this afternoon but will be gutted to hear that what sits below will not be ready for two months.
Each sterilised jar contains 65 grammes of sugar, 500 ml of vodka and 400 grammes of plums, each one whole and washed and pricked to allow the flavour to seep out. I apologise for using metric amounts but it was the recipe I followed. I am told that when I remove the plums and decant into bottles, the plums themselves, soaked in alcohol, are ideal ingredients for Christmas puddings. So that will be a diary date of mid-late October for making this year’s Christmas puddings.
Next up with the remnants of the harvest will be ice cream making this evening.
