Photo article from the Welsh Hovel: an almost 100% home generated meal and a use for gherkins

We all agreed that an Indian recipe i found on the internet was the way forward for dealing with my gherkin glut. Okay there are a few cheats here, notably that I had bartered a few gherkins for a few tomatoes and a cucumber or two grown by the parents of one of Joshua’s friends. But anyway…

On the left, prepared by me, is chopped gherkin with a few chillies ( also from my garden) cooked in Greek hovel olive oil with mustard seeds and the bartered tomatoes. On the right is tzatziki prepared by the Mrs: bought in yoghurt, bartered cucumber and home grown garlic and mint. Next year I will be producing my own tomatoes and cucumbers and the year after there will be goats producing yoghurt. The direction of travel is clear.
