Reader R and cousin P drool with envy at the size of my wood store currently. Though the wood-burning stove has kept us warm all winter, I have chopped more wood than I have used, and thus the wood store below has, I reckon, enough to see us through to early 2025. That middle section really is four rows deep, and more than five feet high. And the good news…
Is that I have another 100 big logs outside the snake barn, waiting to be chopped up to add to this, and…a good year’s worth of branches and old posts, currently sitting in another barn, where, each day, I saw a few into smaller logs. So, my target is to start next winter with four years’ supply, even allowing me to install a second stove in my library. However much the green policies of Carrie Antoinette increase fuel prices, we will stay warm here at the hovel.
