Therese Coffey MP was on Sky this morning where she was meant to be batting away questions on the cost of living crisis and the drought. Either Ms Coffey is thick as two short planks or she must think we are.
On the green levy which is helping to make fuel bills so unaffordable she argued that the Government was having a moratorium on further levies to help we hard pressed oiks. And that further green expenditure would be paid for by general tax, i.e. by we hard pressed oiks. If that is the answer what is the question?
Then to the drought which Coffey blamed on a failure to build new reservoirs and deal with leaky pipes and who was to blame for that? Er…the EU of course. Thick Therese stated that getting rid of European regulations” that govern private investment in UK water supplies may improve the country’s water infrastructure.”
Okay Therese name those regulations? Investment by water companies in pipes or new reservoirs is, of course, determined by OFWAT, the UK water regulator. I am no fan of the Evil Empire but the EU has never interfered in this process and is not stopping anybody from taking the steps this dimmest of Tories is proposing. To suggest otherwise is a lie. Either Therese is so dim that she believes that lie or she thinks we are all so dim that we will believe that lie when she utters it.
