I am ordering a stack of Discovery apple trees to create a colonade along the path by the river. I am not sure how they will do in what is a flood meadow but I shall stake them firmly and see. The stakes I put up by the river with some oak saplings last year have survived even if the oaks have not. And the trees I have ordered are already 5 foot high so I hope they will flourish. My orders were divided as my normal supplier had only nine trees left and so I had to use Beechwood Nurseries for the rest. Buyer beware: Beechwood are shysters!
The offer is explicit at the URL page HERE. Buy three get one free. Heck it is even in the URL. So I bought nine and er… am now being sent 2 extra trees. The way this offer works is that you must buy 12 and will not be charged for 3. So had I “bought” an extra one it would not be charged. I would describe that as “buy 4 and we will not charge you for 1”. Not buy 3 get one free.
Am I being a Pedant? Possibly. What i do know is that this is misleading and, if I am bored, I might just report Beechwood to the ASA. Certainly the chances of it getting any repeat custom from this prodigious purchaser of trees is nil.
