Shamed to be of Irish descent again; what is it about them and the Jews?

Sometimes I feel unbelievably proud to be of vague Irish descent. But sometimes I feel nothing but shame. When the girls of the national soccer team sing tribute to the IRA I am revolted. But it is Israel and the Jews where the Irish seem to score particularly badly right now. Is there something in the water turning so many folks into raging antisemites? Meet Dublin Senator Gerard Craughwell.

In the tweet below he really does suggest that the Israeli attacks via pagers on Hezbollah in Lebanon is a worse crime than the holocaust. The pager attacks targeted terrorists and have killed just two civilians. Six million Jews died in the holocaust yet Gerard reckons the attack on Hezbollah is worse.

In a normal country Gerard would be ostracized for this ludicrous slur. But this is Ireland in 2024 and it seems that anything goes when it comes to slating the wicked Jews.

Incidentally I saw a British Labour MP describing the pager attack as “indiscriminate.” Surely it is anything but. It must be the most accurately targeted bombing campaign in history. It is just that Labour MPs have got into the habit of describing ALL Israeli military actions as indiscriminate whether they are or are not.
