What is it with being Mayor of London that makes you want to get into bed with Jew haters. Red Ken was pals with so many rabid anti-Semites I lost track. But it now seems that Boris does not care who he bunks up with either. No… not that sort of bunk up. I refer to his dealings with Emirates Airline (who I am now boycotting). Emirates you are Jew hating swine and I am ashamed that Boris has any dealings with you.
This story comes from Snipe London, a website run by my colleague Darren Atwater and concerns the ludicrous arrangements for the loss making vanity cable car set up in Docklands.
Apparently, the sponsorship contract for mayor Boris Johnson’s cable car means his successor would be prevented from criticizing the deal with the Dubai government-owned airline Emirates. The contract is now up on the TFL website if you do not believe me. Clause 6.5 states:
DLRL ( the Docklands Light Railway) shall not, and shall procure that none of TfL, each member of the TfL Group, the Air Line Contractor… and their respective directors, senior staff and official spokespeople acting in the course of his or her employment shall make any statement in connection with the subject matter of this contract that is disparaging or defamatory of the Sponsor, any member of the Emirates Group, or any person forming any part of the Government of Dubai and/or the Federal Government of the United Arab Emirates or any member of any of the Royal Families of the United Arab Emirates.
Hmmm. It gets worse. Johnson claimed in 2010 that the cable car would be built “entirely from private finance”. But the Emirates deal covers only just over half its costs – and the way it is structures means it will have only paid out £13.2 million so far. Emirates will pay the rest off in a further eight £2.85 million instalments each summer until 2021. European Union funding covers another £8 million, leaving a £16m shortfall which the mayor hopes will eventually be covered by the premium fares charged on the link between Greenwich and the Royal Docks. But traffic data to date makes that look doubtful.
This is another vanity politician project paid for with YOUR cash. But the contract gets far worse.
It includes restrictions on firms which TfL could have dealings with on the cable car, who the cable car could be sold to, and it appears to block dealings with Israeli companies. The UAE does not recognise Israel as a state, and the contract specifically rules out individuals or organisations from states with which the UAE does not have diplomatic relations.
This is a shocker. BoJo has signed a contract which appears to enforce economic sanctions against Israel. I would have expected this from Livingstone but from Boris this is a shocker.
Boris perhaps you might care to explain: “Er Cripes so we needed the dosh, it’s not like I don’t respect Israel except when I am in a bit of a financial hole and I have to go along with the Jew haters. Cripes.”
