Poisonous midget Nicola Sturgeon notes that Scotland voted to stay in the EU but that Britain voted out and so she is having another referendum on whether Scotland should leave the UK. We should pre-empt her and just boot it out now.
In the referendum poll as in the General Election Scots are totally out of kilter with the rest of the United Kingdom. Over subsidised by England and Wales, their Government spends far more per person on the average Scot that we get south of the border. This happens because of a net transfer of funds as per the Barnett formula.
Quite simply Scotland as a nation not only believes in the money tree it worships it. 88% of Scots are net takers from the State - they take out more than they chip in. They expect the big old nanny to do everything. Life expectancy is too low. So the State spends more and more. Folks take less and less responsibility for their own lives. And thus today in Glasgow male life expectancy is - at 57 - lower than in the Ukraine (pre civil war, post Chernobyl). Yup you keep smoking, drinking, stuffing your fat faces with deep fried Mars bars and the state will do everything until you croak.
The rest of us really do not think like that. We are a nation divided. In this the poisonous midget is correct. Let us just recognise it and let Scotland go its own way.
The EU may well welcome the midget with open arms. It already has the Greece of the South why not get the Greece of the North too. Deficit financing based on Money Tree worship is all the rage in EU nations so Scotland will fit in well.
Okay, maybe that is why the EU is the world's least successful trading block and why its collective economy is heading only one way but as that happens at least Scotland can sit alongside like minded folks. They can all blame the bloody English, Thatcher, banksters and the Americans together as they discover that the problem with socialism is that in the end you run out of other people's money.
It is not just that most Scottish people are welfare addicts, it is that the political class believes that the State has a right to mainline other people's money as well. Great Scottish thinkers like Adam Smith, John Buchan and Elaine Craig come from another tradition and perhaps were it forced to stand on its own two feet Scotland might again rediscover the virtues of self reliance and hard work. As part of the EU it will be like the frog in ever warmer water, sitting there with all the other froggies not realising what is to be their fate.
But that is for the future. for now Scotland votes differently, acts differently and thinks differently to the rest of Britain. As a Republican who shall be cheering on teams playing in Green this weekend but as a taxpayer in England I say this in the nicest possible way but it is high time that Scotland just fucked off and went its own way.
