Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: Ahead of a trip to Paddy's House

The excitement mounts - we are soon off to vist the house of superhero Paddy Leigh Fermor as I explain HERE. Ahead of that I look at: Ascent Resources (AST), Volex (VLX), Advanced Oncotherapy (AVO), African Potash (AFPO), Blenheim Natural Resources (BNR), Fastjet (FJET). Aureus Mining (AUE) and China New Energy (CNEL).

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast - The Times Newspaper, financial journalists are part of the problem not the solution to crooked markets

I start by analysing a very odd paragraph concerning Aureus Mining (AUE) in the Times Market Report. Then it is onto Boxhill (BOX) which is a zero, Lord Tim Razzall you are "in sights" there is more to come. Then it is onto Armadale (ACP), Purecircle (PURE) and FastJet (FJET), oh Duck & Dive where are you? It's time to say "sorry TW was right, as usual - I am sorry for daring to suggest that his analysis was wrong."

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast - Nicotine Clean for 2 days under 3 months

Yup I am still clean and 99.9% of the time very glad to be. But I know that if I have just one fag it will be all over. So I will not. I digress. Today's podcast covers my little internet difficulties here in Kambos then goes onto Aureus Mining (AUE), Circle Oil (COP), IGAS (IGAS), LGO Energy (LGO) and Gulf Keystone (GKP). Finally I urge regular listener Marcus Stuttard, head of the oxymorons at AIM Regulation, to read the utterly shocking Phil Edmonds and Andrew Groves tale HERE as it shows what a shite job the bogus Sheriff is doing.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast - a Nightmare about bars in Sunderland Edition

A reader says that ahead of bearcast he now gets an advert for bars in Sunderland. Poor fellow. Perhaps he should move from the welfare safaris of the grim North to the hard working South of England? I discuss this and then move onto Nyota Minerals (NYO), Aureus Mining (AUE), Driver Group (DRV), Harvest Minerals (HMI) and - in detail - the piece of excrement that is African Potash (AFPO).

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast 28 Feb: Getting ouzo ready for Slater & Gordon, MIDAS in Mail talks shite & Mervyn King on banksters

In today's podcast I look forward to results from Slater & Gordon (SGH) at around midnight Sunday. I explain how goodwill writedowns, bank provisioning and other matters work ahead of what will be an ouzo, beer, popcorn and coke evening of joy for me. Then it is onto explaining why the MIDAS column in the Mail on Sunday penned by the silly bint Jo Hart is talking shite on Aureus Mining (AUE). You would have thought by now that Jo would have grasped the basics of how DCF models work. It seems not. Then I end on Mervyn King's warnings of a new bank crisis. I think he may be right.

Tom Winnifrith BearCast 8 February - A scallywag to a buffoon, Ken Brooks to Zak Mir & MTV at 0.00p

A wide ranging podcast starts with comments on Eden Research, Ken Brooks and the abject failure of the FSA/FCA to protect investors. Then it is onto three shite companies starting with the letter M: Magnolia Petroleum (MAGP), Motive TV (MTV) and Mosman (MSMN). I look at Circle Oil (COP), Trinity (TRIN) and Tethys (TPL) as well as Servision (SEV) where my target price remains 0p. Then a brief stockmarket lesson for the Sith Lord on what a dead cat bounce actually means and a look at Aureus Mining (AUE).

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast 23 January: Bank Robbers, Purists, Rampers & other shite

I am not in a good mood. Is this more to do with the reaction to Brokerman Dan's piece here yesterday or an impending trip to the Grim Northern welfare safaris to see the mother in law. Anyhow this podcast contains a lot of bad language. I discuss Daniel's contribution. The market was in a good mood yesterday and thus a number of wholly irrational share price spikes get covered: Mosman Oil & Gas (MSMN), XCite Energy (XEL), Condor Gold (CNR) and especially Highway Capital (HWC) which I cover in detail. I also explain why I remain bearish and comment on Aureus Mining (AUE) which announced a "strategic review" i.e. it is totally fucked.

Tom Winnifrith BearCast 30 November - Producing the Oakley Christmas Card

The annual ritual is complete. The Mrs and I have photographed my morbidly obese three legged cat Oakley in his Christmas hat and even Tara played her part posing in the hat and in a stocking. And thus our rather un-Christian cards are now in production. Awway from that I have a long look at Slater & Gordon (SGH) where the management has just allowed the bears a chance to sell even more shares. Jabba The Hutt stocks Solo (SOLO) and LGO Energy (LGO) get a mention as does Aureus Mining (AUE) with its hugely discounted placing. Alba (ALBA) is clearly lining up its next confetti issue and I comment on that as well as Blur (BLUR), Outsourcery (OUT), Wandisco (WAND), Plant Health Care (PHC), Gulf Keystone (GKP) and NAHL (NAH), Finally I commend the CEO of ValiRx (VAL) who attended Gold & Bears on Saturday and was incredibly poilite. Memo to TW. I will be less beastly to her in 2016.

Aureus Mining – Not Out but Certainly down

Shares in AIM and Canada listed Aureus Mining (LSE:AUE) trade higher today at 40p post the company’s 2012 results release and an update on financing for the company’s New Liberty gold project in Liberia. However, the shares are still well below the 57.25p at which I called them a post t1ps sell in November.

I wrote about the company three times in November as it was flushed out on a cash call and my detailed analysis has proven pretty much bang on the money

Aureus Mining Q3 Results: Still a sell?

Aureus Mining (AUE) was a poorly timed recommendation from my 12 years at t1ps.com and I recommended selling and reinvesting in more attractive gold plays at the start of this month with the shares at 57.25p. Following results for the company’s third quarter (to 30th September) released today, the shares now trade at 50p. Does this change my view?

Aureus Mining Flushed Out - $80 million fund raise underway

Yesterday I warned that Aureus Mining was going to have to raise stacks of cash. The deluge of upbeat RNS announcements told you as much. And I advised selling at 57.5p. This was met with stacks of Bulletin Board abuse from folks insistent that I did not know what I was talking about. I suggest scores on doors after 24 hours: TW 1 BB Morons Nil. As today the company has ‘fessed up saying it plans to raise $80 million via issuing new shares. For a company capitalised at £60 million ($95 million) that is a huge ask and there seem to be all sorts of risks here. I would almost be tempted to go short here. If I own the stock I would sell. Here is why.

Aureus Mining – A winner or a loser in the gold stakes?

AIM listed Aureus Mining (AUE) is a gold development and exploration company, currently mainly focused on progressing its New Liberty project – which it is targeting to become the first commercial gold mine in Liberia. I apologise for having timed my recommendation poorly here – recommending the shares at 84.5p in August 2011 on t1ps.com, during my 12 year stint there. Now trading at 57.25p, I review the investment case based on the informed view of where the best place to currently be in the gold sector is…
