Round one was last week but after Fidelity hit back at JD Wetherspoon (JDW) via poodle deadwood press journalists at the Telegraph, JD’s heroic boss Tim Martin has had another go at the woke hypocrites at Fido.

Institutional investors are, like the sad drips at Fidelity, are obsessed about telling us how bloody woke they are and how they just are so ESG friendly. Alreet Chloe Thompson ye bonnie lass – fancy a job at Fidelity? Belta! But while they talk the ESG talk do they really walk the G walk? Heroic Tim Martin of JD Wetherspoon (JDW) has lashed out and his answer is NO!. The great man says:

Fidelity is dumping its shares in Quenron (QPP) and I explain what this means. Jefferies is defending IGAS (IGAS) by doing nothing and I explian why it is so foolish to do so. This will explode in the face of IGAS and its piss poor Nomad. A quick ten minute blast - no holds barred stuff.

If I comment on Fidelity increasing its stake in Quindell (QPP) I am damned as an obsessive. If I say nothing I am damned as a coward. So I am damned either way but for what it is worth…
Fidelity – one of the three institutional holders of Quindell has today announced that it has increased its stake by 199,644 shares. That takes its holding to exactly 10% requiring it to issue an RNS. That has caused the shares to spike to 214p as Bulletin Board Morons see this as a vote of confidence. Whatever. As Fidelity’s quarterly performance is reviewed today that will help a bit.
If Fidelity really believed in this company

AIM Cesspit listed Legendary Investments (LEG) has today issued a release headlined “successful placing”. How does it define success? Meanwhile , how I define “talking complete and utter bollocks?”
Legendary has raised £900,000 at 0.11p with “a range of institutional and private investors” In plain English that means bucket shops and other flippers. The chances of one finding that Fidelity, Black Rock and Berkshire Hathaway have joined the shareholder register are somewhat slim.

There will be some folks who tell you that you must (I repeat must) have exposure to China or India as part of a diversified portfolio. The question such folks ask is which? The arguments are well rehearsed: demographics, GDP Growth prospects, transformation of agrarian economies, competitive advantage. There is a plausible long term case for both which i shall discuss at another time. The issue is whether holding such investments now will make you money and the answer is no. As such I suggest that if you hold units in Anthony Bolton’s Fidelity China Special Situations fund you should sell the lot now at 74p.
