Cooks Coffee IPO from Monkey – why oh why?

Andrew Monk’s VSA Resources is bringing NZ listed Cooks Coffee to London with a dual Aquis listing.  Because the world needs more coffee shops as we head into a severe recession which will force discretionary spending off a cliff? Whatever you say Monkey.

Anglo African Agriculture – is it game over for this Big Dave Lenigas & Little Andrew Monk spoof

Very wisely, big Dave Lenigas stepped down as chairman of the company he founded on 30 July leaving his buddy Andrew Monk in charge.  That the company’s adviser and broker on London’s standard list is VSA Resources run by er…. Andrew Monk is obviously not a conflict of interest at all. Anyhow, it is all ending in tears as an RTO underway for two years has hit the buffers and the company appears to be insolvent, What’s not to like?

Andrew Monk’s VSA Resources to list on Aquis – why will it be different this time Monkey?

Fresh from its less than flattering role in the Tim Yeo/TMO Renewables trial, Andrew Monk’s VSA Resources has today announced its intention to float on the Aquis lobster pot which Monkey laughably predicts will be Europe’s Nasdaq. You may be tempted because the last accounts show that VSA had a cracking year to March 31 2021. But hang on? Wasn’t VSA once on AIM?

Columbus Energy at 4.7p offer worth 26p – VSA

Okay, VSA Resources is the house broker so it is paid to be bullish but could these shares really be a five bagger plus? Analyst Oliver O’Donnell reckons so and opines:

The stocks to buy in the world of batteries and alternative energy according to Andrew Monk

Belatedly back at his desk after a long Christmas and New Year break, Andrew Monk of VSA Resources continues his sector reviews with a look at what he calls Batteries and Energy but, as he notes, it covers a multitude of sins really as there aren’t that many stocks that really fit this. Over to Monkey

Anglo African Agriculture - is this the craziest plea in history to be fired?

It may be off your radar but Anglo African Agriculture (AAAP) is a standard list company originally floated by Andrew Monk of VSA Resources but where big Dave Lenigas took over as chairman last Autumn. I should declare that we are shareholders and for what it is worth I am relaxed about the progress Big Dave is making, something that is not evident in legacy interims out today. VSA Resources still acts as financial adviser and broker and Monk is on the board. But I suspect not for long.

Andrew Monk on the great oil exploration triangle

Andrew Monk of VSA Resources has a geography lessn for those following oil explorers. Believe it or not the hot spot is not somewhere close to Gatwick Airport but somewhere a bit more exotic.

Is the City of London Corporation bent and why won't the press investigate?

The City of London Corporation is unlike any other local authority. It is democratic in the loosest sense of the word. It is hugely rich and very powerful and, as such,  it is rare that anyone in the Square Mile is stupid enough to stick his or her head above the parapet and ask what is going on. But today Andrew Monk of VSA Resources aks for trouble and writes...

EasyJet 2 big takeaways and one is SELL

Before he became a resource guru, Andrew Monk of VSA Resources was a transport analyst for many years. As such his comments today about Easyjet (EZJ). The point about executive greed, oops I meant incentivisation, is a very valid general one. The other point is ...SELL. Over to the Monkey who writes...

So back to serious stuff and firstly airlines and EasyJet in particular. Now Dame Carolyn McCall

Andrew Monk of VSA reckons that LGO Energy is a buy

It takes two to tango or, rather, two to make a market. I am not exactly a great fan of LGO Energy (LGO) having called this as a teddy to perfection. But Andrew Monk of VSA reckons it is time to bottom fish and since I believe in free speech I am happy to publish his reasoning from his morning email.

And now for Sula - why am I tipping it as a potential ten bagger: Andrew Monk

Andrew Monk of VSA Resources was today explaining in his private daily email why Sula Iron & Gold (SULA) was his second nap share tip of the year. Now bear in mind VSA acts for Sula but Monk is a principled sort of fellow and if he says he believes in something he really does.  As such it is over to the Monkey who writes:

Asiamet update - broker VSA says shares a buy at 2.8p worth 6.2p

International Consolidated Airlines (British Airways) Results - a broker who understands travel warns you

Andrew Monk does understand travel. Most brokers only understand it in that they collect air miles flying 1st class on expenses on Corporate jollies. Monk did actually run an airline as well as being a top City travel guru in days gone by. Thus his comment today on results from International Consolidated Airlines (IAG), the son of British Airways, are worth heeding.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: £2 for a fecking Guardian "Newspaper" for my Dad, I feel dirty & violated

I had to buy another Guardian for my Dad today. Two fecking quid of my money has gone to Polly fecking Toynbee to pay for the upkeep of her fecking Tuscan castle as she lectures me about all sorts of shite. I feel dirty for buying this rag and violated by the transfer of wealth from me to Toynbee. Moving on I cover Gulf Keystone (GKP), FairFX (FFX), Osirium Technologies (OSI) which I do not get at all and contrast with Falanx (FLX) which I do very much get and whose shares we own. I also look at WH Ireland (WHI), Servision (SEV) and Easyjet (EZJ) which gives me a chance to be rude to Andrew Monk at VSA Resources.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast 21 Feb - a very ill cat, Andrew Monk's bloody puzzles & balance or lack of it

Sorry for the delay with this podcast. First up I am still not smoking, second I am delayed as one of my cats seems very ill indeed. Then bloody Andrew Monk of VSA has my mind in torment with a puzzle I cannot do and another where as a chemist - and a boring boatie from Oriel - he just cannot see that there are 2 correct answers.  He should have done PPE. Finally a reader demands we show balance, i.e. parrot his unbalanced view. No can do compadre. Puzzle answers in comments section below please.

Top broker sticks knife into IGAS ( and praises ShareProphets)

Top broker slams David Lenigas - takes REM & Bacanora off buy list because of Big Dave

It seems to be open season on David "Green Hair Services" Lenigas (pictured left). Today top broker Andrew Monk of VSA Resources who is a mega bull of lithium has taken Rare Earth Minerals (REM) and Bacanora Minerals (BCN) off his buy list just because of the Lenigas factor. Andrew Monk of VSA Resources promises to emigrate if Labour wins...Reasons to back Red Ed No 1

I see that Andrew Monk of VSA Resources is today saying that he will emigrate if Labour wins the General Election. Normally Jim Davidson makes a similar pledge. That almost makes me tempted to back the People’s Party. Just wondering who else has promised to leave the Country if the Reds triumph on May 7? If any one of:

Thomas Cook - The Profits warning next week says airline guru Mr Andrew Monk

Andrew Monk heads up broker VSA Resources but in a former life was an airlines expert. He even set up one. It went tits up. But he knows how this industry operates and his views on THomas Cook (TCG) are clear. He noted this morning.

There are some things in life you should learn never to do – one of them we learnt from Bob Ayling at Br Airways, don’t try and get clever by changing your tail fins thinking it will solve all your problems. Well on Landing at Gatwick the other day I thought I had landed in a tissue factory !!! What have Thomas Cook done ?............what has a yellow heart got to do with global travel, excitement and experience – Kleenex would I am sure be impressed but if I want a tissue I don’t need a travel agent – me thinks Thomas Cook has caught a cold

Bullabulling - VSA Note: This company is worthless even at a $1400 gold price

Broker VSA initiated its coverage of dual listed hole in the ground wannabee gold miner Bullabulling Gold (BLG) at 7.15p with a speculative buy stance last October. With the shares at 1.875p the unrepentant broker’s stance is unchanged on this AIM Cesspit posterboy.

I guess VSA was half right; Bullabullshit is highly speculative it is just the buy but that was a duff call. Even VSA which seems to be a fully paid up member of the Bullabullabullshit fan club admits that at current gold prices (or indeed at $1400) this stock is worthless.

The gold price is now $1250 oz. It is all very well

AIM adviser VSA quits AIM because AIM is not working and adviser fees too high: is AIM toast?

It is rather like the Pope saying that he is not really into this Easter business and there is no point in going to church as it does not seem to get you into heaven anyway. But just before the long weekend, AIM listed VSA Resources (LSE:VSA) – which is actually an adviser to AIM companies - has said that it plans to delist from AIM as there is no point. Well you said it guys…

VSA: Buy Highland Gold at 106.75p – target price 175p

It is not often that I comment on broker’s notes as most are pretty worthless. Normally I post comment if I disagree violently or agree strongly. Which brings me to the VSA Resources note out today on Russian gold producer Highland Gold (LSE:HGM). The problem with gold is that it is usually found in dodgy places, Africa or Russia. Neither is exactly East Surrey in terms of political stability. VSA engaged in this debate. It writes:

Buying shares in small stockbrokers as M&A play – you must be mad

In today’s Daily Mail, Geoff Foster suggests here that pretty piss poor results from Walker Crips (WCW) suggest that trading across the sector is dire. Yes he is spot on. There are few IPOs, private investors are not trading actively and so revenues must be down. And as we all know, stockbrokers demand big pay packets and will not change that just because their employer is struggling. However why should this drive mergers as Geoff suggests.
