Entrepreneurs, folks who risk their own capital to start a business to create jobs, to generate taxes for the Government to spunk, are, unlike greedy public sector wastrels, the true heroes of our age as I noted here. You have to be a true optimist to start a business, knowing that most will fail within a few years. As it happens, I am about to start a new business with my friend C. You will be surprised when I can say more. But to start a business now is especially optimistic/damn foolish given shocking data out today in Begbies red flag alert.

I start with one of Darren’s long reads which offers a post Covid plan for the restaurant sector. The author obviously has not got a clue about what being an entrepreneur means and about how business works. But this sort of nonsense is mainstream. In a similar vein I discuss board room greed and stupidity at Lloyds (LLOY) before moving onto how you deal with serial failures & pigs, reference the main troughers at Iconic (ICON). I start with a row with my neighbout who thinks my Woodlarks training threatens her social distancing and will see her dog kidnapped. I despair. I shall be walking past her house 7 times this afternoon. As you consider that treat please donate to rogue bloggers now as we reach 29% of target. Please give HERE

On the occassion of my father’s 82nd Birthday i ponder how miserrable life must be for him today. I urge you to hold your nose and go online to the Mail on Sunday just to read Peter Hitchens today. His column is golden prose, a joy to read. we agree on the coronavirus and the Government’s appalling response. Luke Johnson is in the same camp and I quote from his Sunday Times column reflecting on where my animal spirit sits as a consumer, an investor and an entrepreneur. Where, I ask, do you sit dear listeners? I sense, in many cases they have been crushed and thus what lies ahead is a recession of the sort few of us have ever seen before.

You might just remember Maria Miller MP being forced to resign from Government in utter disgrace after bogus expense claims of up to £90,000 were exposed. The Parliamentary Standards Commissioner said the old trougher should pay back £45,000. Her fellow MPs helped reduce that to just £8,500. Sleazy Maria has today tweeted a remark of such mind numbing idiocy that I wonder if you is the dimmest MP today.

Entrepreneur Lior Gantz claims that the outlook for Gold and Silver is improving dramatically. His thesis is that recent market action has resulted in a rebound. In September mining stocks hit 52-week lows, and the regular markets are now entering bear market territory. Inflation is on the rise and many states are hiking their minimum wage. Recent US Dollar strength is actually a bearish sign.

This video rather slipped down the sofa but was a bonus session from the great Luke Johnson in a breakout room at the UK Investor Show on what makes a great entrepreneur.

My late ex father in law Iwan was consistently damning about the Assembly, which governs the Wales he loved with such fervour. He was a man who had grafted away all his life as builder and developer, risking his capital and working bloody hard to make a decent living for his family and along the way paying vast amounts of tax.

I start with the tale of Concha (CHA) and Ve Interactive from earlier - see HERE. What does that tell us about bubbles, especially in tech. Watch out for similar catastrophes at companies such as Allied Minds (ALM) and FastForward (FFWD). I then move onto the Budget and Chancellor Hammond's betrayal of the self employed which gives a lie to the idea that this Government wants to reach out to those Just About Managing and to those who are prepared to risk all to do what this country needs and become an entrepreneur.

So many to choose from and so little time to think – who am I nominating for these prestigious awards? Ultimately it is down to you, the investing public to vote on who wins, but for what it is worth my nominations have been:
*Entrepreneur of the year – investors vote on which AIM CEO or Executive Chairman has destroyed value most spectacularly in the past year.
Sean Nutley of Silverdell (SID) gets my vote.
*PLC Pig of the year* – investors can vote on which AIM CEO or Chairman was most grotesquely over-remunerated relative to performance
