With the largest package of mineral rights in southern Greenland, Amaroq Minerals (AMRQ) announced an equity raise of approximately £30 million “to accelerate development and exploration activities”. However, as suggested by the price of the fundraising despite a depressed market, the prospective accelerated development and exploration looks very exciting indeed.

The maths on this share tip from disgraced Mike Walters of the frauds Minmet, Polly Peck, 3DM, and the list goes on and on, infamy are clear. Verditek (VDTK) is – as of today running on vapours and unless it can get a bucket shop – deeply discounted – placing away, the shares should be suspended pending clarification. To recap for chairman, Tory Toff, Lord Willetts:

I flagged up that shocking journalism of eight days ago by Jo Hart of the Midas column HERE. Oddly it never went beyond the “bully and harass” stage.

This has not been a very good share tip so far. But things are getting better for the company and the share price and they will get better still. It takes a while to restore both output and even longer to regain investor confidence. A Q4 2020 Report from Centamin (CEY) emphasises that 2020 results will be in-line with October guidance and reiterates the 2021 outlook . This has helped the shares higher but there is more to come. On what has not been a great tip so far we suggest averaging down.

That is better than we and the market had hoped for.

I look at news that Tesco (TSCO) is upping its dividend while getting a massive tax break from the taxpayer. This is wrong at every level. The Times tries to defend it, no doubt on orders from a powerful corporate PR machine, but this is simply a transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich and should not be allowed. I look at Nostra Terra Oil & Gas (NTOG) following up on my earlier piece with more questions for the board and Nomad, Strand Hanson, and another shocking revelation abiout the behaviour of CEO Matt Lofgran. Finally a few words on Concepta (CPT), my share tip of the year where I have averaged down in today’s placing.

It looks as if the double share tip video will be out on Tuesday - www speeds in Greece are just too slow to upload it. In today's bearcast I start with the leaking of failed bids, ref Elegant Hotels (EHG). Who benefits and why do it? Then I look at the fund managers accused of colluding to drive down IPO prices. I really do have some sympathy with them and explain why. Then it is onto UK Oil & Gas (UKOG) and Alba (ALBA). Finally I take apart today's ludicrous claims about growing poverty in Britain. They are pure bollocks.

I explain why getting this right is so important in endeavouring proper company analysis. Then it is onto Friday's market sell off caused by what even ABC now admits was 100% fake news about Donald Trump. I look at the tax plans of POTUS which are inspirational and compare them with the rhetoric coming out of Jeremy Corbyn's Labour Party. I increasingly think Corbyn will win the next election and explain why that would be such a disaster. Tomorrow there may be no bearcast as I am travelling but I plan to do a double video share tip for paying subscribers only

I have also covered my extreme annoyance with Concepta (CPT) in Bearcast HERE. Last week it had a profit warning thanks to a new order for £600,000 having been received but not being able to be booked until Q1 2018. Hence there was a 2017 miss. That saw the shares go down. There is now a placing and at the same time we were told that this order would now be booked in Q4 2017. Surely that unwinds the profits warning.

Okay three disclosures first. One: we own a shed load of these shares. Second they have not exactly flown since the IPO via a reversal at 17p. And third there has been a bit of slippage in hitting targets ( four or five months) and a £1.4 million placing at 18.5p was not exactly what the share price doctor ordered. However this stock is going to fly. My target is for it to almost treble, well before Christmas 2018.

Elsewhere I look at the latest utterly meaningless trading statement from Audioboom (BOOM). Why is its CEO Rob Proctor so averse not only to defending free speech but also to handing out metrics that actuially mean anything. He is another man for the job of lavatory attendant at the Athens bus station. And BTW this company is going to run out of cash AGAIN. I also look at Havelock Europa (HVE), UK Oil & Gas (UKOG) and 88 Energy (88E). Now SIGH UP FOR A HOT SHARE TIP FREE HERE NOW!

We tipped these shares a couple of weeks ago at a 130p offer. Readers of the Nifty Fifty are thus happy bunnies as the shares are now 147p-149p. We do serve up good share tips and Steve and I are now working on our next one! But the shares should head higher still. I explain why in detail - here is our original share tip from two weeks ago.

Folks asked if I had learned any lessons from Stanley Gibbons (SGI), a dire share tip and a stock where I also did my conkers. I hope there are. In this last bearcast until I return in September (as discussed HERE) I look at the rationale for this tip and my errors.

We own Falanx (FLX) shares and are currently well over 100% up on our investment with stock at 9.5p mid. HotStockRockets readers are now 100% ahead on the share tip too. Our October share tip of the month was Sula Iron & Gold (SULA). The Bulletin Board Morons thought we were daft and the shares were 0.18p offer. Today they trade at 0.33p-0.34p so were are heading fora 100% gain and some brokers think we are mad. Broker VSA says the shares are still cheap and reckons fair value is 2.5p. we kid you not.

This is one of our worst share tips and also one of my (TW) worst investments of recent years. Collectibles group Stanley Gibbons (SGI) has announced further dire results - this time for the six months ended 30th September 2016 - though “is optimistic that the trading of the group is now beginning to reflect the giant strides made through the restructuring plan in a year of substantial transition” (including a completely new board of directors).

Lucian is still on his grand tour of Eastern Europe but before he left he told me his two sell tips of the year for 2017. The first, natch, was Cloudtag (CTAG) HERE. The second, at 384.5p, is Plus 500 (PLUS).

Minoan (MIN) has been something of an AIM uber-dog for many years. It is a stock that I have tipped with success once and with lack of success more than once. Its failure to deliver on gaining planning consent on its Cave Sidero site in Crete over more than a decade is perhaps why its shares languish at 6.25-6.5p. But 2017 will be THE year.
2882 days ago
In the long run buying shares in companies that break accounting rules, commit fraud and which are running out of, other people's, money is a recipe for poverty and thus AIM listed fraud Eden Research is my second share tip of the year, like my first (Cloudtag HERE) it is as a sell. The shares are now xxp but this is a sell at any price down to 0p. Frauds are always worthless in the end.

You want your share tip of the year to have the potential to double or treble. You will not get that with GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). Equally it is incredibly unlikely that you might lose 75% of your cash on Glaxo. Elephants do not gallop eith forwards or backwards. My third tip of the year is a stock that could lose 75% and become a cash shell. But it is also one that could easily treble and I think he odds are on the treble not the collapse. I refer to Wishbone Gold (WSBN)

Update. I have it on good authority that it was NOT Cloudtag fined. Hpefully uit will be. The share tip I mention at 7.45 can be accessed for £5 HERE. The notice of the £75,000 fine by AIM Regulation on an un-named company, levied last Thursday is HERE. That company not Cloudtag (CTAG) - it should be. Whoever it is should fess up. This is a dark day for AIM as it has fined the wrong party (the shareholders not the board) and in not naming the company it also screws the shareholders again. Regulators have form with private censures that let everyone down. I compare this to the 3DM scandal.

On Friday we published an update on a tip from a few months ago. We tipped the shares at a 4.25p offer, they are now 6.75p to sell so that is not a bad return for 5 months work. BUT IT IS NOT ENOUGH! A late bearcast. Sorry. I was working on the new share tip. Away from that I look at just two stocks: twitter and how you monetise a troll? So what does that make the shares worth? Then onto Bushveld Minerals (BMN) and its placing today done by Belfort Securities. What does that tell you about AIM. There is a lot of PR horseshit flying about that placing as I point out. Warning: this bearcast contains bad language right from the start.

Steve Moore and I have not tipped a stock on our Nifty Fifty Website for a good while. We are nervous of the stockmarket as whole and as a result we have been advising readers to liquidate existing share tips, mostly banking big gains as they do. Concepta (CPT) has announced that it has issued 464,674 shares following the exercise of warrants - something we warned you about last week. That brings in £34,851 which is frankly neither here not there. Around 10% of that cash came from the exercise of warrants by FIML and my pension fund. Neither are selling at anything like this price although the shares are well up on a 14p offer share tip.

Drat. There is that phrase again. Results for the year to June 30th 2016 are expected to be "broadly" in line. That is stockmarket speak for "a near miss". No wonder the shares fell a tad on the announcement to 310-333p. We are well ahead of our 148p offer share tip but down on a few months ago.

In that rarest of moves for an AIM-listed company, Berkeley Energia (BKY) has announced new financing from a major shareholder which includes new equity at a premium to the currently prevailing share price. Following several months of due diligence, mining-focused private equity firm Resource Capital Funds is to provide $5 million through a 0.375% net smelter royalty and a further $5 million for new shares at 32p each. The latter compares to a closing high share price since 2013 of 31.75p earlier this month and a pre placing close of 30.25p – these up from 26p at the start of the year and more than 50% on our share tip.

We start with an apology - this has been an awful share tip. If only we were Wildes or Bulletin Board Morons and got every tip 100% right. But we are human. So apologise. Throughout the Christmas period one of the two principals of AIM listed Afriag (AFRI) has trolled me on twitter, sending me almost 150 tweets accusing me of extortion, taking bribes, of being a coke addict, a drunk, having no qualifications other than serving pizza, of being mad - based on the fact that my mother killed herself- , etc. Yusuf also offered me a bribe to buy shares in Afriag. He has failed to answer critical questions about Afriag (AFRI) and today came up with the most lamentable excuse yet for not answering.

A reader posted on our comments section: "Ive also just bought into FFWD. Tom why can't you tip this for 2016 instead of repeat tips on OPTI and NIPT?" There are number of reasons why Rare Earth Minerals (REM) is a slam dunk sell. So many that it is hard to know where to begin. But we might as well start with the macro scene and a very important article that appeared on this website a few minutes ago.

This was not going to be my tip in the recently published book "The Magnificent 7" which you can download for free HERE. I was set to tip Optibiotix (OPTI) at c40p. Unfortunately for you (but fortunately for me since we own shares in the company) the share price has raced ahead to a 48p offer. I still think that they could head much higher and Zak Mir reckons that Optibiotix shares will be 60p by October. I think, that is what a chartist terms a long term view.
I take a rather longer, long term view than my illiterate Old Harrovian pal Zak and note that at least one broker (Hybridan) reckons that Optibiotix shares could trade at 200p by 2017 IF it delivers on all that it has promised. But I accept that there are a lot of IFs in that analysis and anyway you don’t want a stock that has already raced ahead since August.
And so that brings me to a sister company, Premaitha (NIPT)

For the past five years owning shares in mining companies has been investment suicide. And in three years on the Nifty Fifty website Steve Moore and I have tipped just three mining stocks and now follow just one. Yes I know that it has just had a profits warning and that the old adage is that warnings come in threes. But I do not expect that to be the case with Stanley Gibbons (SGI) and so it is my third share tip for Easter at 249p.
3520 days ago
My second share tip for Easter is a tech stock but not one of those that has zero revenues or uses the dreaded EBITDA metric to justify its lack of real profits. This is a real company making real profits. Tip two is Vislink (VLK) at 51p.
A couple of weeks ago it announced results for the 2014 calendar year and that its “markets continue to be challenging” but said that that its revenues were being buoyed by its expanding higher-margin software offering and more efficient integrated communication division under new leadership.

It has been a poor six months for shareholders in Interquest (ITQ). The stock zoomed to 130p as it put itself up for sale but no offers came in at the right price so the shares tanked to 88p. That was a big over-reaction as the company is going great guns. That is why Interquest at 100p is my first Easter share tip (buy).

This has been a bad share tip. The macro scene has been unhelpful but whichever management team has been in charge EMED Mining (EMED) has not prospered. The latest revelation prompts us to apologise sincerely but to advise selling at 3.25p. Enough is enough.

International specialist staffing group, Empresaria (EMR) has announced results for the 2014 calendar year and that “we see exciting opportunities for growth across our network, particularly from the investments made in 2014, and look forward to the year ahead with confidence”. We are heading for 100% up on this share tip but there’s more to come.
The results show an adjusted pre-tax profit of £6.1 million on net fee income 5% higher than in 2013, at £44.6 million (+11% in constant currency, revenue +2% in constant currency), generating earnings per share of 8.3p, up from 6.5p. The shares subsequently fell towards 5p having been 7.5p early in the year. However, there is clear evidence that trading momentum has indeed since been positive and with the shares still now available at a 7.5p offer price, they are a penny share buy.

This is the closest I am going to get to tipping a mining stock in a hurry – Fox Marble (FOX) might own mines but it is essentially a building materials stock. This should be a boring and dull business. To date it as not been.
Fox owns quarries which are largely in Kosovo, an area once in Serbia where with the complicity of the West the ethnic Serbs were ethnically cleansed by the Albanians. The latter have no historic claim on the area (it was never part of greater Albania) but when it came to the vilification of the Serbs we in the West did not really care about our oldest allies in the region. Rant over. The new regime does appear relatively honest so when a bent local official tried to seize a Fox asset soon after the IPO he was sent to prison and the asset quickly restored. None the less being in Kosovo has not been seen as a massive plus point by AIM casino investors.

To lose one director in December is unfortunate but to lose two looks like carelessness but that is what Volex (VLX) managed, parting company with its FD after just 18 months in the job and with a well-respected NED – with immediate effect - on New Year’s eve. The truth is that this is just not a very good company - my pal Paul Scott put it more succinctly the other day in an enthusiastic daily Stockopedia report. At 70.5p, capitalised at £64 million it is a slam dunk sell.

Anyone owning a Chinese based AIM stock is certifiably bonkers. That is especially the case if it is based in Fujian Province, a small part of the PRC which has specialised in listing frauds on AIM, the Frankfurt Exchange, the TSX and NASDAQ. The Fujian four on AIM are: Camkids (CAMK), Naibu (NBU), China Chaintek (CTEK) and Jiasen International (JSI) and for all four my ultimate target price is 0p. But I feature Jiasen today at 42.5p as a sell of the year.
The modus operandi of a Fujian fraud is simple.

One of the reasons that capitalism works while the alternative is doomed to fail is that failing companies can reinvent themselves.
For years AIM casino listed Vialogy misled investors raising money time and time again to support the obscene salaries of an underperforming and overpaid board. I like to think that I played a part in exposing the poltroons responsible and in forcing change. The old guard are out and shareholders are now starting to get back their losses as a new management team takes the ship, now renamed Premaitha (NIPT) forward.

Some of you may regard this as boring. There is after all, ALMOST, nothing written below that I have not written before. But I promised my top 5 shorts as part of my 10 tips of the year and Quindell (QPP) is my top short. Quite simply these shares are worthless. And so selling at 42p or whatever you can get is a sure fire 100% win. This is a “niller” at so many levels. Where do we start?

My general view on equities is mildly bearish as I explained in my macro calls piece HERE. As such I will be serving up 5 longs and five shorts as my tips of the year. The first long was HERE and the first short HERE. Now for Number 3, Globo (GBO), the sort of flim flam that will suffer badly in a bear market.
I have been bearish on Globo (GBO) since the mid-seventies and so its shares have almost halved since I weighed in. at 39p the market cap is £132 million and for 2015 I would expect the shares to halve again, or worse.
Globo throws up a series of red flags for any investor but I will leave the most serious to last. But in no particular order other than leaving the best/worst to last here goes:

Young Steve Moore and I tipped Amino at an 82p offer on our Nifty Fifty website on October 15 2014 - the shares are now 95p to 96p. You see we can write BUY share tips and when we do we are good at it! But there is still upside. We reckon fair value for the shares is 133p and here’s why.

Steve Moore and I are pretty proud of NOT having published a new share tip for several months on our pemium Nifty Fifty website There are commercial pressures to write tips – folks do not renew if you see no tips! – but we could not have acted differently and felt good about ourselves. We are well ahead on our tip to buy shares in Amara Mining (AMA) We told Nifty Fifty readers to buy at a 15.75p offer – the stock is now 23.75-24p. But there was interesting news last week implying that there is more upside still.
First came news of further drilling results from its key Yaoure project in Côte d'Ivoire demonstrating strong continuity and high grade areas. With further intercepts including 31 metres at 4.2g/t gold, 10 metres at 6.1g/t and 4 metres at 25.2g/t, the company emphasised that “this further increases our confidence in the Yaoure deposit and underlines the potential for selective mining of the CMA zone”.

Investment Case: Noting that a large proportion of its cash looked surplus to what is needed in its ongoing business and for its current growth plans, Prime People plc (PRP) recently returned 15p per share (£1.82 million) to shareholders. This, together with an attractive ordinary dividend, shows a regard for shareholders that few other AIM-listed companies do. This is perhaps because the directors' interests are via their shareholdings to a rare extent aligned with other investors. We tipped this at a 90p offer a couple of weeks ago but at 95p to buy this is still a good share tip and here’s why.

Never buy Chinese stocks listed in London is a golden rule of mine. But I broke it last month tipping Hutchison China MediTech (HCM) at an 870p offer. They are now 960p bid after interims yesterday. So why break a golden rule and is there more to come for the shares?
My pal Mark Slater put me onto this one. He does his due diligence and the point about this company is that its largest shareholder is a sort of Chinese Buffett who realises value by spinning out businesses and keeping a majority stake. One fraud and his reputation is toast. It won’t happen.

Steve Moore and I tipped Interquest (ITQ) a couple of weeks ago at an 88p offer on our Nifty Fifty website. The offer is now 92p but the shares are still a buy. Here is what we wrote:
Investment Case: The UK ‘economic recovery’ doesn’t look to have the firmest of foundations but with a general election now just 18 months away it is a safe bet that the government will do all they can to sugarcoat it at least until then. This is a likely positive for recruitment group InterQuest, with more than 90% of its business being in the UK. Together with recently implemented ‘self-help’ measures, the company’s prospects look positive and the rating - even after a positive year for the shares – is still likely undemanding. Therefore, at a current 92p offer price, the shares area buy.

The maths look compelling (even heavily risk weighted), the newsflow should be sparkling according to my sources but this is mining: it is all about the delivery. Even so, Berkeley (BMR) is worth a flutter as a speculative buy share tip at 2.13p. I could see the stock hitting 3p in fairly quick order. But it is speculative.
At 2.13p the market capitalisation is £21.5 million. We have results looming and though the numbers will be irrelevant what I am told by good sources we will get is a clear indication of when operations in Kabwe in Zambia will be chucking off cash. The answer is soon.

Why are you guys not tipping a raft of bombed out mining stocks? Well we are not sure that things have bottomed out quite yet. There is no rush to fill the gold portfolio on our Nifty Fifty site ( although – amazingly) we are only 1% down over a year on gold stocks. Fox Marble (FOX) is classified as a mining stock on AIM but I’d view it as a building materials sector play.
It produces marble – the price of which is far more predictable than, say, gold. It is not a cash cow yet but it will be pretty soon. It is run by a sensible and successful businessman Chris Gilbert who is modestly paid but has a big equity stake and the 2015 yield could well be close to 100%. I am not joking. The stock is a buy at an offer price of 17.5p with a two year target price of 60p.

My best ideas go there first. It is expensive but you pay for getting the best ideas first.
In our heyday at t1ps Steve Moore and I had a great track record. Over 11 years and c 240 tips our average gain was c 42.5%. Of course t1ps is now written by a couple of fellows who were still at primary school when the sire was launched. They claim the record of Steve, myself (and Robert Sutherland Smith) as their own in marketing material but it is OUR record. I can assure you that we never outsourced to primary schools.
Robert Sutherland Smith has been writing with me here and at www.shareprophets.com for a couple of months now and the news this week is that he will also be leaving t1ps for good at the end of September

We knew a three weeks ago that AIM listed Reach4Entertainment (R4E) was trading in line and was making further progress at tackling central costs by parting company with grossly overpaid FD Shirley Stapleton. I called the stock a recovery play at 3.75p then but with one caveat. That caveat has now gone and the stock at 4.75p is a clear buy as a share tip.

AIM-listed oil and gas company Northern Petroleum (NOP) has announced the departure of director Maurice Eaton who joined the company in 2007 and became Director of Operations in June 2011. The company added “Maurice’s departure is the first of a series of changes to board roles and executive responsibilities including the roles of Chairman and Managing Director planned during 2013”.
Although very long-term shareholders may still be in an ok position here – I initially recommended these shares as a hot tip at the equivalent of 13.75p in December 2001 – the performance in more recent years has been undoubtedly disappointing – the shares down from more than 160p in October 2009 and more than 100p as recently as May 2011 to a current 36p.
But the last sentence of this release is fascinating. Chairman Richard Latham has been a member of the company’s board since 1995 and was appointed Non-Executive Chairman in 1999, whilst Managing Director Derek Musgrove

On Monday, Goldplat (GDP), the AIM-listed African gold producer, rather disappointingly warned that “EBITDA for FY2013 is likely to be materially lower than market expectations”. I am disappointed because I had tipped the stock at a higher level. But how many gold companies issue an alert and still seem set to maintain a bumper dividend? Not a lot. And that is why this is a buying opportunity for both income seekers and those wanting gold exposure.

Following its recent $6 million placing at 38p AIM listed NetDimensions (NETD) has announced a detailed five year plan. The company is nothing if not ambitious and says that it aims to be a leading provider of talent and related compliance management solutions for highly regulated industries. The company now sits on $11 million of cash and so how does it plan to utilise it, given that it operates in a market worth $4.8 billion and which will grow at 21.3% this year. I follow this with interest as it was a share tip a few months ago on my Nifty Fifty site at a 43p offer price – you can find out more about the Nifty Fifty service here.
The shares are now 49-51p.

I first recommended shares in AIM Listed Avanti Communications (AVN) back at 116p years ago. I was still bullish all the way up to c800p when it launched its first HYLAS satellite since when the shares have headed only one way. They now trade at 279p .I apologise for not selling a long time ago on this share tip.
The bull case remains that if the company can fill capacity as planned on its two satellites in space and a third set to launch in a couple of years it will be chucking off cash like there is no tomorrow and as such one can attribute a valuation of £15 or whatever to the shares.
The bear case is

Having been booted off the AIM Cesspit, Norseman Gold is still suspended on the ASX. However an operational update published before the Bank Holiday in Oz gives a glimmer of hope that all may not be entirely lost. But with Norseman, one of my worst share tips ever for which I apologise once again, we have come to expect the worst.

AIM listed 1Spatial (SPA) is turning into rather a good share tip in my Nifty Fifty Recovery portfolio. It joined in November at a 4p offer price. The shares are now 7.625p after an £18 million placing at 6p with a blue-chip raft of institutions and news of a very exciting acquisition. This is a game changer.
Let’s start with the placing. It was not done at a huge discount. Indeed the stock was at 6p when the roadshow started. And there are no spivvy discount brokerages on board. Merely spivvy blue chip institutions. So yes they will flip but not at 8p. At 12p they will get tempted.
1Spatial also announced that it has signed up as its new non exec deputy chairman David Richards the founder of AIM poster boy tech play WANDisco (WAND). That is a PR coup.
Now to the deal.

Having added shares in specialist environmental support services group, Silverdell (SID) to the Recovery portfolio of my Nifty Fifty website at a 17p offer price in January I clearly do not look entirely Buffetesque with the shares now trading at a 14p mid. They took a bit of a beating yesterday so is anything wrong?
The company announced a trading statement on 12th April. Its results are on 5th June. It thus cannot comment on financials but if something had gone wrong it would have had to say so. It has not. The only news (yesterday) is the appointment on a Non Exec – John Matthews. He seems like a solid if dull fellow. No problems there.

I tipped this stock at 175p to buy the other day on my Nifty Fifty premium web site but now at 184p in the middle it is still cheap – target price at least 250p. My July 2006 share tip on t1ps.com (the site I founded in 2000 and edited until last September) of shares in AIM listed specialist IT recruitment group, InterQuest (LSE:ITQ) is not one which has covered me in glory. Having tipped the shares at 67.5p, they traded above 80p until economic conditions darkened in the second quarter of 2008. A low of 30.5p was hit in February 2009 and the shares again traded at sub 35p in August of last year.
But to be fair to me I did suggest an aggressive average down at 45.5p

I have been bearish about Antofagasta (ANTO) twice on these pages, twice suggesting that the shares were overvalued. The publication of calendar 2012 results on March 12th improves the story a little but not dramatically. The shares have fallen sharply since my original bear calls and as such some might speculate that the copper giant offers bottom fishing appeal at £10.29, valuing the FTSE 100 mining giant at £10.144 billion.

Shares in fully-listed S&U plc (LSE:SUS), the niche home credit and motor finance provider in the UK was a stock that I tipped on my Nifty Fifty service at an offer price of 839.5p in November. Following the publication of results the other day they now trade at 975p-1020p. The spread is wide enough to drive one of mad Ken Livingstone’s bendy buses through but sometimes you just have to bite the bullet. But at this price? Look at the dividends.
The chairman of S&U is Anthony Coombs a former Tory MP who is far too much of a real Conservative to have much to do with Call Me Dave’s hapless Government. And thus Coombs starts his comment on S&U’s results with the observation that

Shares in AIM listed Tanzania gold miner Shanta Gold (LSE:SHG) have not covered me in glory. It has not been a disastrous share tip but it would be a lie to say that the stock has flown. I did have hopes of lift off as the shares reached 24p in January but today they sit at 18.375p, a stock becalmed in a sector unloved. Does that mean that it is time to call it quits?
Steve Moore and I first recommended these shares at 21.5p in July 2011 back in our days on t1ps.com and the journey since has been far from smooth. My first post tips analysis was still a bullish one and much of what I said then still stands today – you can see that analysis here.

This article on Cupid was emailed out to users of onefreesharetip.com about an hour ago since when shares in Cupid have fallen by 11p to 101p. I do not normally reprint onefreesharetip.com articles. If you want them sign up to the service and be ahead of the curve. But in response to a few requests I reprint this one. This is a one-off. If you want ideas ( short and long) from a panel of 20 odd share tipsters, bloggers and analysts REGISTER HERE
The article reads:
My colleague Adnan Siddique wrote the other day here that online dating agency Cupid (LSE: CUP) was a binary bet. It was either going to double or crater. I agreed with that analysis and like him thought it was right to buy. We would both now stick with the binary bet call but would both advise selling and – in fact – would open a short position. The current short is, BTW, not 27% but perhaps 6% of the issued share capital. I think that number will get much larger pretty soon. This is not a stock to hold. I got it wrong but having read some fresh material last night am making a 100% volte face on this. What you have lost on the bull track you should aim to recoup on the bear tack by going short.
The bull case for Cupid (me getting it wrong) is presented HERE

Cairn Energy (CNE) served up calendar 2012 results today and as oil and gas companies go this has to be the easiest stock going to analyse - it looks a nil brainer if dull share tip. What I refer to is the clear tangible net asset backing. At 279.4p the market capitalisation is £1.693 billion but have a look at the asset backing.
The 2012 numbers are pretty irrelevant. The highlight of the year was a return of $3.5 billion to shareholders following Cairn’s sell down of its stake in Cairn India, which is listed in India. For what it is worth the profit after tax was $73 million. This is all a far cry from my days as a graduate trainee oil analyst in the early nineties when the company’s house broker, for whom I then worked, put out a note on Cairn at 7p headlined “not bust yet.”

FTSE 250 listed oil Production Company Soco (SIA) operates in some pretty exotic locations – its production is in Vietnam and its exploration assets are in the sort of African hell holes you’d send your mother-in-law on holiday to. But the financial footing of the company is rock solid as calendar 2012 results published on 11th march make clear. Among the mid-cap oil explorers this shines out by dint of its cash backing and cash generation. This is not something discounted in a 399p share price and the shares should be bought as part of a balanced portfolio of oil producers. This is a safety first share tip but it is interesting.
Net income in 2012 came in a shade below forecast at $207 million – but that still represented a 34% increase on 2011. But cash is what I am looking at here and cashflow from operations was ahead of forecast at $335 million leaving year end cash at $259 million.

Robert Sutherland Smith is again proving that he is still alive with another guest post. Robert started his City career the year before I was born and is, I think, 157 years old. Fear not. He is very much alive and kicking. He and I have worked together for almost eight years at t1ps.com . He is my friend and he is a very funny and intelligent chap. He is now branching out to celebrate his 158th by doing some freelance writing over at TradingResearchPoint on FTSE 350 Income stocks. Robert is a speaker at the UKInvestor Show on April 13th. He is a great one for focussing on yield. RSS today looks at J Sainsbury. RSS writes:
In the chemical filing cabinet that serves that as my memory, I had evidently misfiled Sainsbury under the heading ‘no dividend interest’; presumably nudged by another memorized observation that Sainsbury has been handsomely outperforming William Morrison and Tesco – which I have also recently reviewed as a dividend paying candidate. The truth is of course that Sainsbury is notably well qualified to serve as an above average dividend yielder. So I have looked at the situation to see what Lord Sainsbury’s store has to offer by way of useful dividend income.
The Lord Sainsbury thing is a little joke of mine which I like to share with the bemused staff at my local Sainsbury when I send my personal regards through them to Lord Sainsbury.

This went out on onefreesharetip.com a few weeks ago but perhaps meriots a wider audience I stand by my view expressed here:
It is part of the British DNA that we believe that house prices must always go up. That is not the case. Be warned. Falls of 30% or more are inevitable within the next few years.
Of course inflation (the erosion of the purchasing power of the pound) has made house prices a one way bet since the early 1970s. I will not bother serving up a chart just imagine climbing a ski slope. But this is an inflation given gain. It simply reflects, to misquote Harold Wilson that the pound in your pocket is worth far less than it was. You might note that in 1971 you could buy an ounce of gold for £14. Today that will cost you more than £1000. The destruction in the purchasing power of Sterling during the past 42 years has meant that all physical assets look, in headline terms, like smart bets, housing included. You cannot live in a bar of gold but it has actually been a better bet than UK house prices. So as it happens has been am 1870 Wisden cricket annual, but again you cannot live in it.
House prices have not, as anyone who bought in 1987 will remember, moved in a straight line. There are periods when they fall sharply. That happens because a) they get overheated and b) because there is one of two external shocks: either a sharp rise in unemployment or a sharp rise in interest rates and either of those two triggers mean that large numbers of people with mortgages cannot pay, default and become forced sellers.

Another week and another milestone has been reached for Norseman Gold (LSE:NGL). We are not yet at the point where we can say that the shares will return to AIM but we are getting closer. Let me explain.
As you may well remember Norseman – one of my moist disastrous share tips in a 25 year career – announced last autumn that it was putting its operating subsidiary into the hands of the administrator. Impellam Group (LSE: IPEL), an AIM-listed staffing and outsourced support services provider in the UK and North America, with smaller operations in Australia, Ireland, New Zealand and mainland Europe is a big success from my time at t1ps – Steve Moore and I tipped it at 40p in September 2009. It has been an eventful month for FTSE 250 listed Britvic (BVIC) the producer of soft and fizzy drinks. On the upside the company served up a pretty decent trading statement on the 13th February. On the downside, a day later, its proposed takeover of AG Barr was derailed by a reference to the Competition Commission. Amid all the drama and excitement around St Valentine’s day there sits at the centre a solid growth story which is undervalued by the market. There is a decent capital gain to be enjoyed here for the patient investor with the added attraction of a 4.2% yield. This looks a safe enough share tip.

The founder of FTSE 250 Listed Heritage Oil (HOIL) is a colourful gent but the way that he has grown Heritage from scratch is exemplary. The recent final disposal of the company’s last stake in its Kurdish assets meant that since its inception this company has now realised $2 billion from disposals since its inception and that cash has been reinvested to create an attractive asset base which is not recognised in the current share price. In a sector with few quality players this is a stand out buy.
The company now sits on free cash of c$172 million. It has another $405 million set aside should it lose a tax dispute case in Uganda and it says that its legal opinion is that it will win. Either way it is not short of cash. The company has some producing assets in Russia and exploration potential in Libya, Malta and Tanzania. This has potential but is not the key value driver. That is block OML 30 in Nigeria where the company has an effective 31.5% stake; this aea is a vast block where production is already substantial but will grow at an incredibly rate in the years up to 2020.

London Capital (LSE:LCG) was not one of my more inspired share tip ideas of the Autumn. I rated them as a speculative buy on October 23rd at 52p. The company rewarded my faith and hot share tip with yet another profits warning pre Christmas. Worryingly net cash at the year-end was down to £20 million. Given that much of that is tied up as regulatory capital I can only contemplate what the actual free cash position is and despite cutting its costs, depressed market conditions mean that it is still losing money

Densitron Technologies (DSN), the AIM-listed electronic displays company has served up a rather nasty profits warning, leaving the shares trading at 7.625p valuing the company at just £5.3 million. I recommended this stock on t1ps.com, the site I founded and edited for 12 years until this September delivering an average gain of 42.7% over 241 share tips before leaving to set up The Nifty Fifty. The t1ps share tip was at 11.75p in December 2010 since when 6p has been paid out in dividends (including one special 5p payment) so as disasters go this was no total disaster. Of course all charting/ technical analysis is hogwash but now and again I humour my old pal Zak Mir by bringing you a snippet of his work. On EMED my target price is 38p but Zak seems to think the shares should race ahead to 20p. That would be a start. Here is his share tip – not from t1ps.com natch.
As can be seen from the daily chart of EMED Mining over the past couple of years, we have been treated very rough ride terms of the noisy price action. But the most painful part of the journey could be described as that seen this time last year when the stock jumped from below 8p up to 16p and then back again. It could be argued that for Bulls of the stock to have survived that kind of experience, really would underline their loyalty / blind faith as far as the company is concerned. At least on the back of the early 2012 white knuckle ride it is evident how since May last year despite all the volatility, a rising trendline has been put in place by the shares one that currently runs level with the key 200 day moving average at 10p.
Indeed, the most obvious thing to do is to draw a parallel trendline to this multi-tested 2011′s support line in order to discover what the likely upside here could be – a likely 2 to 3 month price target at 20p for the stock. Indeed, it may be achieved even sooner than this suggested timeframe as yesterday’s 13p low at former post-July resistance remains in place as the fresh support for the stock.

When a company issues an RNS headlined “Trading Statement” there is always a heart in moth moment as you open it up – is this a profits warning? No such concerns today with Blinkx (BLNX) which has announced that after an exceptional first half, trading in the third quarter remains strong and hence it will beat full year forecasts. The shares have raced ahead by 26% to 86.25p but are they now more than up with events? Is it time to bank gains?
The statement is brief but reads:
“In November 2012, blinkx announced that it had an exceptional first half, driven by the early integration of recent acquisitions and the effects of the US elections and London Olympics. Today, blinkx is pleased to report that trading in the third quarter continued to be strong. Therefore, the company expects to be ahead of targets, with revenue for the full year in the range of $180M to $185M.

AIM-listed, Russia producing gold miner Highland Gold (HGM) has published a calendar 2012 trading update which reads very well. African Barrick Gold (ABG) has in the past week updated investors with full year and fourth quarter production numbers – perhaps as critically it has secured a $142 million loan package in order to dramatically increase output from its Bulyanhulu mine which should drive its organic growth. The 2012 numbers were not that impressive and with investors already spooked by the collapse of a takeover approach from China National GoldCorporation the shares have retreated to 355p at a time when most gold mid caps have moved ahead sharply. I believe the market has over-reacted.

AIM oil explorer Xcite Energy (XEL) is a darling of the Bulletin Boards which is normally a good reason not to buy the shares. Online dating services group Cupid authorised a share buyback programme at its EGM on 19th December. The scale of the programme planned (and which was set to, and did, start on 7th January) was never made clear but it is now clear that it is surprisingly large. It will continue right the way through to results in March and effectively underpins the share price which remains hugely undervalued anyway. That is why the shares should be bought now as I shall explain below – I have increased my 2013 forecasts, formally introduced 2014 numbers and discuss two new target price scenarios accordingly.
As it happens I made this a share tip here at 166p the day before that EGM and so with the shares at 195p I am already looking pretty smart.

I spent two years working along Sam Bottell as he worked with minesite.com and oilbarrel.com and he is a good, honest and clever chap. Now that he is starting his career freelance writing as well as an organiser of the UKInvestor Show I have no hesitation in helping him along via this blog as a guest contributor. As such I bring to your attention a share tip from TradingResearch Point on Kentz where Sam has already been correct and is now doubling up.
It is always something of a risk recommending a share ahead of a trading statement. I took that risk with Kentz Corporation (KENZ) on January 6th and a trading statement today vindicated that call: earnings are in line with what I expected, the order backlog better than expected as was the net cash position. The last time I commented the shares were 381p – they closed today at 424p, valuing the company at £498 million.

Telecom Plus (TEP), now a FTSE-250 constituent, is a very successful past share tip from myself. I recommended the shares at a share price of 187.25p in January 2008 on t1ps.com, the site I founded in 2000 and ran until September when I left and set up the Nifty Fifty website. Prematurely, I banked gains at 691p in July 2011. The shares dipped below 600p that August but have since risen again, to currently trade at 975.5p, capitalising the company at more than £687 million. The following details my current view…

On 15th January AIM listed super IPO of 2012 WANdisco (LSE:WAND) served up what was a very upbeat and impressive trading statement prompting modest upgrades from its paid for research lackeys at Edison and GE&CR and sending the shares soaring ahead to a 577.5p share price. The 2014 PE ratio is now in the region of 120. On 6th January I explained why this stock was actually, a plausibly, cheap share tip at 493p although it could hardly be described as a traditional Warren Buffett style value investment.

I wrote a strong buy note on Aquarius Platinum (LSE:AQP)on Christmas Eve urging investors to buy at 55p. Well ho, ho, ho and a Merry Christmas to you all. I hope that you filled your stockings. I mean boots with that hot share tip. The shares are now 71.75p Why? Thank Anglo American (LSE:AAL) which today announced that it was mothballing some of its platinum output. The platinum price has already rallied strongly since Christmas ( ho, ho, ho once again) and this news is very positive indeed.

I have tipped shares online dating websites group Cupid (LSE:CUP) a couple of times in recent months at prices ranging from 166p to 186p – the share price is now 196.75p but there is a good reason to buy the AIM listed shares even today. In fact there are three good reasons to buy right now both deriving from the share buyback underway. Timing matters and I sense that there is some urgency here and this is why.

FTSE-250 constituent Pace plc (PIC), a developer of technologies and products for PayTV and broadband, has today announced that, following a strong second half year performance, its “full year results are anticipated to be ahead of the board’s previous guidance”. The shares have responded by trading approaching 5% higher at a 202p share price, capitalising the company at £625 million. The following reviews the investment proposition here…is it a good share to tip?
The announcement noted that the company achieved record Q4 revenue, largely driven by demand for next-generation media server products in North America, with media server demand expected to continue a positive trend into the current year. The company is also widening from its hardware position into software and services – achieving a number of key wins and deployments across this area, including with BSkyB in the UK and Foxtel, the largest PayTV operator in Australia. It added it has “a strong (software and services) pipeline into next year”.

As it happens I agree with his conclusion.
Like most mid cap mining stocks, Kenmare Resources (KMR) had a fairly rough 2012, its share price diving from 60p in the spring to 35p today. In part this is a cork on the wave effect: if a sector is thoroughly unloved as mining stocks were last year then it is hard to buck that trend. However, Kenmare was also hit by falling prices of the titanium it produces in Mozambique and by a continuation of its habit of scoring own goals. 2013 should see the start of a mammoth ramp up in output and cashflow generated and so is now a good time to back this Ireland based company?

Forget the fiscal cliff, my share tips of the year or why Fat Sam should be sacked as West Ham manager in May. Forget my pilgrimage to Margaret Thatcher’s birthplace, my Christmas culinary triumphs or my witterings about music – I am currently listening to Lene Lovich in case you were wondering. Judging by tweets, postings ion the blog and emails what folks want to know about is Oakley, my eleven year old cat who as of the week before Christmas has only three legs. Quite right… first things first.
He is not quite himself but the trend is positive. No longer does he have to wear the collar of shame to stop him scratching where his leg used to be before it was removed to deal with the tumour. He can scuttle around the place at quite a rate when he wants to. Which is not often. He can now jump up onto a bed. Rather frighteningly he was also able to jump out through a window and onto a slippery ledge four stories high. I panicked (being someone who suffers from chronic vertigo). He waited until I had left the room screaming and then hopped back through the window and sat there calmly grinning at me as I rushed back in.
Tara, my other eleven year old cat, is now sleeping alongside him and seems to have come to terms with his new shape. Indeed she rather enjoys the fact that Oakley demands to be carried to food since she can nick most of his meal before he realises it is there. In some ways he is back to his old self, crawling up the bed so that he can look directly into your face all night. In other ways there is still a bit of hesitation. There is a tendency to hide away most of the time under a bed or behind a door waiting to be fetched to be plonked onto a sofa.
He seems to be slowly coming to terms with what has happened although the poor creature will never understand. It is only two or three weeks ago that his leg was removed and so I am not surprised that he has not fully adjusted mentally. But the trend is positive. Thank you for all your kind wishes. I shall endeavour to post a couple of new photos next week.

AIM listed Gemfields (GEM) has avoided the bloodbath affecting most junior miners during 2012. At a share price of 35.5p the company is valued at £114 million and is only 4.5p off its 12 month high. But could 2013 be the year when the shares really begin to sparkle?
The company’s principal asset is a 75% stake in the Kegem project in Zambia – this is the world’s largest emerald mine. In addition the company also has a 50% interest in the Kariba amethyst mine which is also in Zambia. These two assets leave the company as a solid cash generator.

I have always been a fan of Greggs (GRG) the UK’s largest retailer of sausage rolls, puff pastries and all the other sort of comfort food that helped to give me diabetes. The company has always had net cash, benefitted from operational gearing and delivered solid year on year earnings increases. But in 2012 things appeared to start to go slightly awry and the share price has fallen from 550p at the start of the year to 458p. As recently as 7th November I foreasaw a bounce ( at 470p) but I have been reviewing my assumptions about UK consumer behaviour. As such I apologise for that bad share tip, a volte face is on the way.I would like to buy this stock as fundamentally it is a good business serving six million Britons each week. But ….

It is that time of the year again. Every writer on every newspaper and website is forced into serving up his or her tips of the year. They all dread it. Most are not tipsters. The track record of tips of the year across the board (I should say me included) is not good. None the less we will all go through the same ritual once again. And for some reason these share tips do move markets. I have already had a number of folk in the financial promotion game suggest to me that “wouldn’t x” be a good share tip of the year. Generally the answer is no but I patiently say that I will look into it.

Shares in AIM-listed specialist remediation, decommissioning and consulting services group Silverdell (LSE SID) were recommended on t1ps at 12.75p in August, the month before I departed after more than 12 years editing that website to set up the Nifty Fifty offering. I subsequently updated you all in November, with the shares at 13.25p, concluding that they remained worth buying ahead of the announcement of results for the company’s year ended 30th September 2012. With these announced earlier this month, the share price is now 14.625p – capitalising the company at £45.8 million, and the following reviews the results and what they mean for the investment case…

During my twelve years at t1ps.com I tipped fully listed Domino’s Pizza twice. The first time was in June 2001 at 62p – I advised selling at 693p in 2007 (a gain of 1018%). The next time I tipped the shares at 193p in July 2008. The share price is now 494p. Not a bad return for share tip given that there is a decent dividend stream on top. But now we face not only a Christmas trading statement * due out January 8th) but also full year numbers (for the 53 weeks to December 30th) which will be out on 25th February. I am a bit nervous about soft consumer spending, fearing that on the high street at least Christmas will be a washout. So what should one do with Domino’s which is today capitalised at £810 million.

Shares in AIM-listed payment and on-line loyalty systems company, Universe Group (LSE:UNG) are an award winning disappointment of a share tip from my 12 years founding and running t1ps.com. Once again I can only apologise. However, I updated readers of this website in October – with the share price then at 2.75p – suggesting that, having already recovered from lows at the start of the year of 1.25p, there could be further recovery ahead and it was time to average down. Now at 3.75p, the following updates my view following a trading update released yesterday…

Shares in Gable Holdings (LSE:GAH), the AIM-listed non-life insurance company underwriting a range of specialist commercial sector policies across Europe, have continued to make progress since I previously updated on the company towards the end of last month. This follows some positive December news flow, which I review in the following piece. I first recommended shares in this company in 12 years at t1ps – in this case in July 2006 when they traded at 18.5p. Since departing t1ps in September, I have updated in October (shares at 31.5p) and then last month (shares at 39p) – noting on both occasions that the share price looked to have a good way to go. Now with the share price at 41.5p ( so not a bad share tip), the following summarises my current thoughts…

Orosur Mining (LSE OMI) is an AIM and Canada listed gold producer, shares in which I initially recommended as a share tip at 24.25p in May 2010 on t1ps.com – the website I founded in 2000 but departed from in September – and subsequently updated on here last month. On Friday the company released a production update which I review in the following against a backdrop of a 37.75p share price

AIM listed property investment group First Property (LSE:FPO) has not exactly been a stellar share tip from my twelve years running t1ps.com. I tipped the stock at 19.25p in May 2008 and after publishing results for the six months to 30th September yesterday the shares trade at 18.75p. We have, to be fair, enjoyed 4.82p in dividends, so it is no disaster either. But where next? I chatted at length to the rather posh CEO Ben Habib yesterday and this is very interesting – the market capitalisation is £20.82 million.

Last week, ILX Group (LSE:ILX), the AIM-listed provider of e-learning software and business training, announced the shock departure of long time CEO Ken Scott. And this week we have weakfish interims and news of a restructuring. It is all coming rather thick and fast but suggests that 29.9% shareholder and new executive chairman/interim CEO Wayne Bos is acting ruthlessly to turn this ship around. His interests are aligned with those of other shareholders and he has a good track record. Should you back the Bos despite the admission that half year numbers were “disappointing.” On balance there is a case to be made, at a share price of 10.125p, although, as I discuss below, it is not 100% clear cut. This has been one of my worse share tips from t1ps.com and I apologise The issue is what next?

I published most of this share tip article earlier on my Nifty Fifty website – where I shall publish a new share tip later today: The Zeadyus-2 well in Guyane has not found commercial oil and has been abandoned. The share price of Northern Petroleum (LSE:NOP) has duly slumped by 14% to 54.75p. This is a total market over-reaction. I have discussed this at length with exploration manager Graham Heard and CEO Derek Musgrove and here’s the score. The shares remain a buy. The same cannot be said for Wessex Exploration (LSE:WSX) which like Northern also has a 1.25% stake in this field.

AIM-listed, South Africa-focussed precious metals miner Pan African Resources (LSE:PAF) has today updated investors on the ongoing process for its prospective Rand1.5 billion (circa. £110 million) acquisition of Evander Gold Mines Ltd. At a current 20.75p share price, capitalising the company at just over £300 million (£378 million adjusting for a prospective rights issue), Pan African remains a big winner from my time at t1ps – the website I founded but departed in September – where I first recommended the shares in November 2005 at a share price of 2.6875p. Surely even barking mad Bulletin Board loon Bob Burnard accepts that was a good share tip? The following reviews the current position here…

Shares in fully-listed marketing services group Creston (LSE:CRE) have not been a good share tip from me so far. They were recommended on t1ps – the website I founded in 2000 and departed in September of this year – at a share price of 107.5p in May 2011 and hit a subsequent high of 121p the following month. However, they then slumped to a low of 47p by the end of January this year as macroeconomic conditions took their toll. The shares have since recovered to a current 77.5p and a couple of days ago the company announced its results for the six months to 30th September. The following reviews these and the insight they offer on the current valuation…

AIM, Canada and Peru-listed gold mining stock Minera IRL (LSE: MIRL) has today announced the results of a feasibility study on its Ollachea project in Peru. This is a company I have followed for a couple of years on t1ps.com and more recently on my own blog and which I have recently written about in a modestly bullish way twice – with the share price lower than it is today. The following reviews the feasibility study announcement and its implication on the current investment case…is it still a good share tip?

I published an pre-results note last week on AIM-listed, UK-focussed healthcare and business management software and services company Advanced Computer Software (LSE: ASW) ahead of the company’s results for the six months ended 31st August announced yesterday. As expected, the results were strong and the share price has moved ahead to hit a high of 66.5p – capitalising the company at £246.3 million and providing not a bad return since I recommended them as a share tip on t1ps, the website I founded in 2000 and wrote for until September, at 34p in September 2010. The following reviews the results and current investment proposition…

The share price of AIM listed satellite group Avanti Communications (LSE: AVN) was marked down by 10% yesterday. Oh no! Is bear raider Evil Knievil right after all? Is there an institution bailing? The emails flooded in. Evil is not correct. A director has bought shares this morning and there is also an upbeat broker research note out from Cenkos this morning. If there was something amiss then Avanti would have had to declare it at its recent AGM. It did not.
My own support for Avanti is well known. The stock was a share tip from me at 116p on t1ps.com but I continue to value it at a multiple of today’s 223p – a market cap of £251 million.

AIM-listed manufacturer of niche plastics products for global markets, Plastics Capital (LSE:PLA) has today announced its results for the six months ended 30th September 2012. This is a company whose shares I first recommended on t1ps – the website I founded in 2000 and left in September this year to set up the Nifty Fifty – at 40.5p in November 2009. I again commented positively here in September, offering a free share tip with the shares then at 66p, and the share price is now 72p on the back of today’s release. I recommended shares in fully-listed Anglesey Mining (AYM) on t1ps.com, the site I founded in 2000 and edited until leaving this September to set up the Nifty Fifty. That share tip was at 11.75p in October 2009. They subsequently raced ahead and I am kicking myself for, particularly in 2011, not banking a very significant profit. Today the shares trade down at just over 7p as the company’s current key value driver, Canada-listed Labrador Iron Mines in which Anglesey holds 19.73% of the shares, has been heavily impacted by very significant late Summer falls in the price of iron ore.
Having dropped 33% to below $90 per tonne (on a 62% Fe cost & freight China basis) in early September, this price has recovered to around $120 per tonne and, with Anglesey having today announced results for the six months ended 30th September 2012, the following takes a look at the outlook from here…

Vatukoula Gold Mines (LSE:VGM) has today announced that it has completed its botched replacement placing to raise £6.6 million gross from Chinese investor Zhongrun International Mining Co. Ltd at 33p a pop. The shares are now 32.5p. I can understand why folks are giving up on this one. Numerous placings – including this rather botched one ( Zhongrun came into replace another Chinese outfit which did not stump up its promised shekels in a 51p placing) – and numerous project delays. But I would not give up. This was a bad share tip from my t1ps.com days (I am 35% down) but I’d buy more and here is why.

And now for the latest news from Centamin (CEY) vs the Islamofascist Peoples Court in Cairo – the fully listed gold miner has issued another statement (its third) on the ruling of last Tuesday which appeared to take away its key flagship asset, the Sukari gold mine. This is the most convincing statement yet from Centamin and the shares have rallied to 74p. That is another opportunity to sell and switch into a safer play. And here is why.

I originally recommended shares in UK-focused business information, events and marketing services group, Centaur Media (LSE:CAU) in October 2009 at 44p on t1ps.com – the website I founded in my bedroom and edited until September 2012 ( delivering an average gain per share tip of 42.7%). But Centaur has been a rocky road – with the shares hitting highs of 73p in early 2011 then, as the UK economic environment bleakened, falling to lows of 28.5p in June of this year. Currently trading at 50.75p, in the following article I review the company’s results for its year ended 30th June 2012 – which were released on September 13th – and take a fresh look at the investment case. Is this a red hot penny share or have we run our course?

I recommended shares in Town Centre Securities (LSE:TCSC) – a Leeds-based northern property investor and developer – in April 2010 at 148.75p on t1ps.com the site I founded 12 years ago and ran until this September. The company has since paid out 20.88p in dividends and the shares currently trade at 184p – so this has been a pretty decent share tip for those who followed my advice. Results for the company’s year ended 30th June 2012 were released last month and in light of that I wonder if it really is still a red hot penny share or if it is time to take profits.

I recommended shares in UK marketing communications and advertising group Mission Marketing (LSE:TMMG) in February of this year at 19.125p on t1ps.com, the site I set up in my bedroom 12 years ago but left in September. At that stage I identified them as a value, recovery play as the company’s cash generation meant debt concerns continued to look to be overly-discounted in the valuation. As the market has gradually come to further appreciate this, the shares now trade at 30p. Not bad in just 8 months. But what now?
