Earlier today I pondered at what price UK Oil & Gas (UKOG) could get away the bailout placing it needs as it is running on vapours as its shareholders voted on a share consolidation. But, as Mike Walters would have said as another of his share tips (did he tip this POS, it is right up his street?) went tits up, oh dear, oh dear.

Oh dear, oh dear as disgraced share tipster Old Mother Mike Walters used to say as yet another one of his share tips headed for a crash landing in Tits up Alley. One of his biggest disasters was, of course, Minmet (MNT) the fraudulent gold miner based in Brazil. Horizonte Minerals (HZM) wants to be a lithium miner based in Brazil. My 2 year old daughter wants to own a real life pink unicorn. I want… well, you know all about Cheryl Cole.

“Oh dear, oh dear” the catchphrase of Old Mother Michael Walters as he apologised for a warning from yet another of his duff share tips. And a cash burning POS like Omega Diagnostics (ODX) is just the sort of POS company that he would have tipped. Today it warned just how bad its results for the year end March 31st would be. Luckily it talks of lots of jam arriving soon. Plus ca change.

Fresnillo (FRES) has seven operating mines all of them in Mexico. This impacted it in 2022 with Mexican labour reform challenges adding to the wider ones such as supply chain bottlenecks and cost inflation. In October a third quarter report concluded “remain on track to meet our 2022 full year guidance of 50.5 to 56.5 moz of attributable silver… and 600 to 650 koz of attributable gold production” and just yesterday the company was “pleased to confirm the final testing of the downstream power distribution and control systems at the Juanicipio project is now complete… commissioning of the project has formally begun. Ramp up will now be conducted at pace”.

I mentioned this in yesterday’s bearcast, but to bring it to a wider audience, Colin, the winner of the 2020 Readers share tips contest has donated his prize to a better cause, Woodlarks. He is a gent. So here’s the deal, an auction is underway for a half litre of Greek Hovel olive oil signed by myself, currently the top bid is £100. Nope , make that £150. The catch…

I was originally meant to present this at an evening organised by brokers Turner Pope. But the compliance officer kicked off in an episode which fills me with despair so Turner Pope said put the video up on ShareProphets and we will give your speaker fee to Woodlarks anyway as it is a good cause. Good chaps. Seriously, TP get to do some good placings, notably of late Sosandar (SOS) where it was almost impossible to get stock anywhere else, So you should have an account with them just in case - you can call them on 0203 621 4121 to get the forms. Telit Communications (TCM) is the most heavily shorted stock on AIM but its share price has proved incredibly resilient. I have two ideas for my sell but think Steve would ban them both so instead I go for one he will allow and explain why it is going to 0p. Then I explain why my buy - which we do own - could multibag. I hope you will enter the contest as well and you can do so HERE

Boy did Amryt bore its loyal shareholders, including us, to tears for most of 2016. Owning this stock, formerly a failed oil explorer Fastnet, was like watching paint dry. Amid a totally understandable ennui the shares drifted back to lows of just under 14p which - as we had tipped the shares at 18.4p and bought ourselves at higher levels - was a bit of a pain. But then in November it roared into life and the shares are now 18.5p-20.5p and are my second buy tip of the year at up to 22p.

I kick off my contribution to the 24 share tips of the year for 2017 that ShareProphets writers will be publishing between now and January 3 with one of the four sells I shall deliver. And I start with the most obvious: sell AIM fraud Cloudtag (CTAG) at 7.125p with a 0p target.

As I explained in my Christmas Day 10 macro themes for 2015 I generally cautious on UK equities – hence my decision to run with 5 buys and 5 sells in my NY selection (three more to come by Sunday night). As such my seventh tip is one you may deem cautious but I see 35% capital upside in it plus dividends and very limited downside. I refer to Stanley Gibbons (SGI), a buy at a 290p offer and at up to 300p with a target of 400p.
One of Gibbons great assets

As I noted in my ten macro themes for 2015 article (HERE) the analysis that Steve Moore and I serve up is bottom up – that is to say company specific – not so much macro driven. But the odd macro think session establishes useful tramlines for the investment process. My first, second and third share tips for 2015 are already live and so onto Number 4.
This is not the classic value proposition that Steve and I normally go for. I admit that it is speculative but should say that for reasons I cannot quite work out it is the largest equity holding in RMPC’s modest portfolio. Well one reason is that the shares have done jolly well. We tipped Optibiotix (OPTI) at 8p on the HotStockRockets website a couple of months ago. It is now 17.25p-18p. This is definitely one to buy at up to 20p and I reckon we will see 30p before very long.
The company is a play on obesity and related issues, something at the front of my mind having just enjoyed my third Christmas meal with Christmas pudding in 4 days.
OptiBiotix has, already during its brief six month life on AIM,

One of my highlights of Christmas was a gathering of the friends of the woman I once referred to as the deluded lefty, that is to say the Mrs. I was ill so, having cooked for them, I retreated to bed with the cats, but coming down for a cup of tea I heard the most deluded of the lot of them (they are nearly all sociology lecturers) opine that she had “applied for research funding to study how black women are suffering in the recession.” Where does one start?
Firstly, she will get that funding and it is YOUR taxes that will fund this vital work. Secondly, you might point out that we are not in a recession so the whole thesis is fundamentally flawed but that will not stop this utter loon from securing funding from the grateful taxpayer which will produce a report concluding that the wicked Tory inspired recession has especially disadvantaged women of colour (you see I know the PC lingo off pat now) and that the taxpayer needs to invest (i.e. piss away more cash) to rectify this. We live in a mad world.
My point is that the UK is not in a recession. One of my ten macro themes for 2015 (HERE) is that UK GDP growth will be the strongest in Europe and among the strongest in the G8 and thus Steve Moore and I when tipping stocks as buys are looking for UK GDP plays. That brings me to recruitment business InterQuest (ITQ) at

Tomorrow I start serving up my ten share tips of the year. On reflection given my bearish take on the markets I am going to go with a 50/50 long/short split. Share tip services usually bodge performance in a number of ways. You can safely say they try to make their stats look as good as possible in order to get you to sign up. The bodges are easy.
The most common one is to use mid-prices rather than offer to bid. It is industry standard to do this and no-one wants to break ranks. I admit that when at t1ps the performance of Steve & I was calculated in this way. It gets compliance sign off, it is legal, everyone does it but it is completely misleading. It is not as if your poor readers get to buy and sell at the mid.
I know of penny stocks that trade at 1p-1.5p. Tip such a stock and see it go to 2.25-2.75p and the industry standard website will claim a 100% gain. The real gain is of course 50% - if you serve up only 10 or so tips a year that “fudge” allows you to boost your stated performance by 5 percentage points. But it is thoroughly misleading.
Steve & I admit to have sinned with the rest of the industry but we have repented and wish others would do the same
The second is to claim performance from one share commentator to promote your publication when he or she does not in fact write for it anymore. I note that Red Hot Penny Shares (a publication I was the founder editor of in 1998) has recently changed editor. Yet

While some financial websites groups, mentioning no names, may be shutting websites down as they haemorrage readers at an anualised rate of 80%...I am delighted to be part of the team which is launching a brand new share tipping website today.
There is a great team behind it. We have enough experience to know that 75% of the stocks on Aim are rubbish but how to make money from the rest. With input from an ex-marketmaker, an ex-fund manager and an ex-sell side analyst plus a team of veteran writers including one chartist we know how this market works and how to make money from it.
AIM is about searching out cheap stocks but using market contacts to find out where the newsflow is coming. No newsflow means that a stock can stay cheap for ages and that is dead money.
Our team has more than 130 years market experience and to tap into that wealth of knowledge and vast network of contacts for hot tips for as little as £5 a month click HERE
The team will not be suggesting that you buy stocks forever. In the long run you are dead, so are we and so is your bank balance. We are looking to bring you shares where you can make a 25% return bid to offer within three months. If a stock has not moved as we expected we will suggest you sell and move your money onto a faster moving horse.
So HotStockRockets will only ever run a portfolio of 12 stocks on this site. But will we deliver? Look at our track record since the team was assembled and November 5th 2013:
Akers Bioscience (AKR) tipped at 2.375p on October 8 now 4.43p – a gain of 87% in 35 days
Alexander Mining (AXM) tipped at 4.25p on October 11 now 5p – a gain of 18% in 32 days
Minoan (MIN) tipped at 6p on 17 October now 7.25p – a gain of 21% in 26 days
To sign up for our next hot tip ( out before the market opens tomorrow) for just £5 a month or £49 a year click HERE
So what do we offer on Hot Stock Rockets?
There is a monthly newsletter with our main tip of the month. That is emailed direct to your inbox and will also contain links to all the other articles on the website
But we do not want to be held to deadline. We will tip a stock when it is about to move. So you will get anything between 0 and 5 other detailed hot tips agreed by our editorial committevevery month. They will appear on the Hot Stock Rockets website and you will get an email alert when a hot tip appears.
And we will serve up an update whenever a stock we follow has news or when our experienced team reckons that it is time to bank those gains.
To get immediate access to our next hot tip out on Wednesday AM sign up HERE
We will never cover more than 12 stocks on Hot Stock Rockets. We watch all those we do cover like a hawk so we can tell you exactly the right time to bank those gains.
And it costs just £5 a month or £49 a year to access all of this. To sign up for your next hot tip click HERE
I hope you are prepared to give us a chance, a fiver is all that it takes.

There is only one thing worse than being talked about and that is not being talked about. So said another writer of Irish descent, Mr Oscar Wilde. Noting erroneous comments made on the ADVFN Bulletin Board a couple of monmths ago that I have lost my marbles as a result of frequenting gay bath-houses I should say that the similarities between mysef and Mr Wilde really do end there.
I see that while it in its latest misleading RNS Cupid PLC describes me as a market commentator the daily Telegraph takes a different view. My new best friend, foxy Fleet Street hackette Harriet Denys gave our AIM Cesspit awards a jolly decent write up in her City Diary column yesterday and describes me as a "maverick share tipster."
Hmmm. Maverick was a classic TV show starring James Garner. I am horrified to see that it was shot before I was born so I guess I only saw re-runs but I was always a big fan of Garner, notably in the Rockford Files when he was also a bit of a maverick
I think I shall write to foxy PR bird Bex at Cupid and suggest that next time Cupid wishes to issue a misleading RNS about one of my articles they should refer to me as a "maverick market commentator." I like the sound of that.

I am told that quite a few followers of mine from t1ps.com days hate twitter and would like more regular alerts on my share material. And so as of this week, I shall be making the Tomograph a twice weekly newsletter. The Saturday edition will stay as it is. But the Wednesday edition will include:
1. Editor’s (that my) choice. Links to the three most interesting pieces of the past week produced across the free to access sites I write for
2. A free share tip. A tip will go up on one of those sites 1 minute before the Tomograph goes live. It may be from me or it might just be from one of the guest writers who will be appearing here in the New Year. The only way to get the alert on that tip is via the Tomograph.

Once again I manage to get both sound and light perfect. And this week no banging window either. I am getting the knack of it.
A charming girl called Zoë helped me film a CEO video last week which will be the first to go live on Nifty Fifty this week. Along with a raft of new investment ideas. For more details on that click here.

Yesterday ADVFN launched the Nifty Fifty, a new website which I am writing. While s atream on new investment ideas will appear in the next few days, starting in a few hours, it has only one article on it so far, yesterday’s editorial. And this is it. It outlines a bit of what is to come. In future content on the Nifty Fifty stays for members only but this is a brief glimpse.

I have known ADVFN CEO Clem Chambers for years and years. He is a peculiar character but we have always got on reasonably well. When he sensed that my days at t1ps.com – the site I founded in my bedroom 12 years ago but left behind in September of this year – were drawing to a close he offered me the chance to do some freelance writing for his online newspaper – a new feature of the ADVFN site.
Initially I was a bit sceptical. My experience of writing for a number of PLCs is not good. They can be very restrictive in why you can, or cannot, say. But Clem and his chairman Mike Hodges said there would be no controls.
I tested this in an early article inviting Islamofascists to issue a fatwah against Clem (and myself) and he waived it through and even laughed at my little joke

Greetings from Albania. I hope that I am getting the hang of this video recording technology. Sorry if I am a little dark in this shot but the only place quiet enough to record is my hotel room. I would like to given you, ahem, beach shots but there is too much shouting/background noise from the road and the mosque out there. A strange place.

The Olympics are now underway. I am meant to go with popular opinion (or what the Government spin machine makes us believe is popular opinion) and say how dazzled I was by the opening ceremony. I am afraid I cannot. Of course it was pleasing to see so many happy young faces and the choreography and special effects were very impressive. But in terms of historical accuracy there were enough omissions that Beta minus would seem a charitable score. And the vision of what is special about modern Britain made me think what a vacuous sort of place we live in. We may have a lot of I-Pods, ageing celebs and a multi cultural awareness but do we really stand for anything of lasting note today? Some of the content was genuinely cringe making and my instant reaction was to take a two mile sea journey from my Corfiot summer base and claim political asylum in Albania.
By the time the Athletes started parading I needed a certain degree of anaesthetic in the form of cheap wine. Sadly not excellent Chapel Down wine. When an all-black team appeared behind what looked like the Irish flag it took me a little while to realise that we were only at C ( the parade seemed to last an eternity thanks to the inclusion of about 80 new countries that I had never heard of before) and that it was in fact the team from Cote d’Ivoire. And yes I then realised that the green, white and orange are in reverse order. I could not work out why some countries dressed their athletes like tour guides while others seemed to have borrowed a line of shell suits from a £1 shop in Liverpool. When a German VIP started giving the straight arm salute to the team from the Fatherland I got really baffled. Who said that the Krauts did not have a sense of humour? What were the Czech team doing wearing multi-coloured wellington boots? Is that part of the national costume or a joke about the British weather? Was it the team from Lichtenstein or Luxembourg who turned up in jeans so that they could go hang out and blend in with the young people in a Romford night club afterwards? By L, it was all a bit of a blur.

I think I am getting the hang of this video technology. I am writing to you from the Connections Bar where there is a high speed wi-fi service and my latest video is whirring its way online. Last time it took 14 hours to get back to the UK. This time it looks set to complete in 150 minutes.
The play list here could have been created by me. Oasis, Nena, Dexy’s, all I need is some Undertones and I shall feel like I am back at Real Man Pizza. Anyhow, I hope that you enjoy the video
